We need a break.
We beg, we post, we talk to people, and almost nothing changes these days. It's exhausting. Rescue has become exhausting.
Everyone deserves time to focus on their mental health and wellbeing, everyone deserves to celebrate holidays (uninterrupted), everyone deserves to find peace in their own home, and everyone deserves to take a vacation - including those of us who run a rescue. But we can't, because we are always covering an emergency. We are the "back-ups" in any and every situation, and it just can't go on.
So, we are officially on an intake freeze, and the future of our group is unknown. We are drowning and it's become too much.
We need puppy and adult fosters and adopters immediately. We need people to open their homes to these amazing, sweet, loving dogs. We have started making colourful posters for each pet in our care, in hopes of drawing people's interest. We will keep doing this, along with posting updated write-ups, until each pet has found a home.
We need money to pay existing bills, and ones that continue to grow. We owe over $2000 in vet bills to emergency clinics, which jeopardizes our ability to take dogs into those clinics if/when they need after-hours treatment. We will be sent to collections if we don't pay these bills immediately.
We also owe almost $1500 to boarding. Bowser and Blinky continue to be boarded during the week (and will be until proper fosters/adopters can be found). We are exceptionally grateful for the help of the kennel, and would like to hold up our end of the deal and pay off our account.
Lastly, we have many dogs that need routine vet care (vaccines, spay/neuters, etc). In order to keep up with these services, we need the ability to cover the costs for each appointment as they take place.
If you love animals, want to help, and/or want to keep our rescue alive, here's how to make a difference:
1. FOSTER. Make room in your home, and in your life, for a dog. All supplies provided by us.
2. ADOPT. Choose to welcome one of our adoptables into your life on a permanent basis. The amount of joy and happiness they will bring is immeasurable. Apply to FOSTER or ADOPT online at www.fundsforpets.org
3. DONATE. To send money toward our bills, e-transfers can be made to [email protected] (password: RESCUE).
4. VOLUNTEER. Our upcoming yard sale is on August long weekend (August 3rd & 4th). We need people to set-up (7am-10am), and tear down (4pm-6pm) each day. If we don't get at least 20-25 people per shift, we will have to cancel the event.
5. SUPPORT. We are currently selling Kernel's popcorn as a fundraiser. Each snack-size bag is only $2.75. Message us for an order form and a list of flavours. We are also taking yard sale donations of new or gently used items. Clean out your closets, basements, and garages, and send us your unwanted items.
Thank you for reading this and hearing us out. Please help us find a way through this very difficult time.
