Big Ben here pulls on his leash and gets a little excited when he sees other dogs. Within an hour he was walking politely on his leash. Though he saw two dogs while walking he controlled his impulses to bark and earned himself lots of good boi treats.

Rainy day enrichment!

Timber is not getting out for a walk tonight because I just don’t feel like walking in the rain.

I filled a towel with treats and rolled it up into a treat burrito!

Though it only took timber 2 mins to figure it out and get all the treats, the impact on his mental health is great. Continue to engage with your dog and challenge them to think whenever possible.

This king Shepard is known to be reactive toward new people which can be pretty unsettling for those involved.
With a training plan in place the owners are ready to take on the challenge of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation training requires patience, as some of these behaviours are deeply engrained in the dog.
The key is to take it slow and steady, and be with realistic with the expectations.

Timber doesn’t lose his ball. Even in this deep powder he will always find the ball. I’ve witnessed him sniff out his ball in an ice covered bog hole. Timber was trained as a scenting dog, so I use his training as an aid while walking and exercising him. What does your dog like to do? Perhaps it’s as simple as being paid attention to. Grab some treats and train with them while out walking! Ask them to sit, stay, give paw or whatever other trick they may know. Make the most of your walk! #betterbehaviour #dogtraining

Some dog breeds require extra effort for exercise. Working breeds such as Retrievers, Shepards and Huskies to name a few, were bred for work. So a standard sidewalk/leash walk may not give them the exercise they need. Go get yourself a long line and let them run! #healthydog #happydog #dogsofinstagram #dogtrainingtips

My name is Chris Whalen and I’ve been chasing my passion for dogs by completing my certification to become a professional dog trainer and behavioral/aggression therapist. I am a cross over trainer that uses positive reinforcement & force free methods.

Having an issue with an adult dog? Or perhaps you would just like to set your new puppy on the path to success, I can help! Message me to discuss which training program might best suit your needs.

I am also happy to offer dog boarding and daycare. While your dog stays with me they will get healthy socialization/exposure, opportunities for trail walks and plenty of play time. Going on that trip but unsure who will watch your dog? Do Fido a favor and send him my way. At Fetch your dog will receive the love and attention they need.
