2023 in review: phyllobates terribilis male to pair with my 3 females, and they proved out and I’ve got a bunch of (available) froglets! Also 4 imitator ‘chazuta’ courtesy of which turned out to be two pairs! Lastly, a group of ameerega pepperi thanks to ! Also lots of interesting plants 🪴 I wonder what 2024 will hold!

Little dude has got a tadpack! This ranitomeya imitator will transport this tadpole and deposit him in a suitable spot. He will then call to the female to lay unfertilized eggs at the base of the pool he has deposited the tadpole! Fascinating behaviour to watch!

Available! Phyllobates terribilis ‘orange blackfoot’ starting to get some nice colour and growing very well! They all seem to be a very deep pumpkin orange at this point!

Hardscape for a new 36x18x24 build! Just waiting for the silicon to cure then can start planting! Still haven’t decided which morph should call this home, any ideas?

Random shots from the tanks tonight: selaginella uncinata (peacock moss) showing off its blue, marcgravia Rectiflora bridge over a mossy branch and a bromeliad getting real colourful!

Moved my office/frogroom this past week, here is my current setup and some fresh pics! Top left is phyllobates terribilis ‘orange blackfoot’ , top right is two separate pairs of ranitomeya imitator ‘chazuta’. Middle right is getting a new species next week, any guesses as to what it will be? Middle left will be a project for this winter, and the bottoms are supplies, tadpoles and froglet grow out bins. Also found some eggs from a ranitomeya pair, I’m going to try raising them by hand, they have not seemed to get the hang of in tank raising yet.

One of the strangest flowers in my terrariums, pearcea hypocyrtiflora, has both stunning leaves and fuzzy flowers. Been waiting nearly a year for this flower!

We have front legs! Two of the terribilis tads popped there arms today! Their water life is nearly complete - when they are ready they will leave the water and absorb their tail to begin their life on land!

Same species, the smaller tads are two days old vs approximately two months for the larger one! Phyllobates tads are tiny to start off and now they are bigger than full grown ranitomeya.

I was wondering why my my phyllobates terribilis male was hiding and quiet today… turns out he has a twelve pack of tads! I’ve been trying to slow them down by pulling eggs but they got some by me… 🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸 nothing stops terribilis!

There is no filtering here whatsoever, that is the colour of the new philodendron prince of orange leaf! And yes, that is the back of a micans leaf in the middle of it

I love how Pilea ‘moon valley’ looks in this terrarium! I think the pilea genus has some really underrated plants and this is one of them! It is a vigorous grower in a terrarium with stunning colouration and leaf texture. I often have cuttings available.

Tadpack! Ranitomeya imitator chazuta male finding the right place to deposit this tadpole, where he will call to the female to lay unfertilised eggs to feed it. Egg feeding behaviour is fascinating!
