What would you say the colour of the legs are on the phyllobates terribilis ‘orange blackfoot’ holdback? I have a few others showing this leg colour (though not much coverage as this one). Still only a year old so it may change but hope it stays!

PLANT GIVEAWAY! A macodes petola cutting, its got roots already and I will be planting it tomorrow! A jewel orchid that you don't see everyday and look at those leaves!

To enter, tag someone you want to attend the terrarium building workshop with and share this post. I'll be drawing the winner on January 15th.

You do not need to be registered for the terrarium building workshop... but you definitely should as it will be an awesome time with more unique plants and methods on building closed terrariums! There are limited spots based on how many cuttings I can take of my plants so make sure to register early!

Here is the event page for all the details (they are in the photo attached as well).

I find after the lights go out I can usually find at least a couple ameerega pepperi hanging out on plant leaves off the ground and in the open. This is much different than all my other frogs, which tend to spend the night under cover or squeezed in tight spots. I’m not sure if this is typical for this species or I’ve got a few odd ones. Either way I will admire these beautiful frogs later in the evening!

Merry Christmas indeed! My most cryptic frog, allobates zaparo, was out long enough for me to take a photo today, only the second or third time this has ever happened! I love the texture on its back

Here is one of the reasons why I love imitators… biparental care! This is super unique. While many oophaga females take care of the tadpoles in imitators the parents make a team. The male calls to the female to lay unfertilized eggs where he has deposited tadpoles. You can see the tadpole ‘begging’ for food, letting the mom know it’s there and ready! I disturbed them, but the mom later deposited three unfertilized eggs in the canister shortly after. It’s amazing to me that such a small creature can have such complicated care for its young.

Available. One confirmed male (blue legs), and suspected male. In NL, can come with their growout terrarium. Coexisting well at the moment! There is also a subadult available (from different parents), was not able to catch it today 😂 no edits so you can see their real colour

Freshly morphed, really hope this one makes it. It looks like it might have a really neat colouration and pattern but morphed smaller than usual. In my experience the most sensitive stage is in the couple weeks after morphing out of the water.

Caught some imitators chilling in a bromeliad. I’m pretty sure there is a tadpole in there
