Our Middle School Mutts program (previously High School Hounds) is designed for furry kiddos 4 months and older. We introduce many practical skills like loose leash walking, reliable recalls, place, leave it, drop it, and more! Skills are easy and fun to learn and will help curb common training concerns like excited greetings, pulling on leash, pestering guests, counter surfing, stealing things, destructive behaviours, bolting through doors, running away, etc.Β

If you're interested, please email at [email protected] to register.

It is also important to note that this program is not a reactive dog class. If you're unsure if this program is suitable for you and your dog, please ask, and we can set up a free assessment to ensure you're getting the best bang for your buck. We LOVE our reactive dog friends and have programs available for them, but they don't benefit from this particular class, and we want all our students to and thrive during and after training!

Our Story

My name is Heidi Peddle and I am the founder of Liv Better Dog Training. I am professionally certified by the CCPDT as a positive reinforcement, force - free, dog trainer and have been working in the industry for more than seven years. Through those years I have had the pleasure of building relationships and training dogs of all ages, breeds, temperaments and skill levels. I’ve been fortunate enough to work at high end boarding facilities, registered adoption centers, both small and large breed doggy daycare’s and even a top rated veterinary hospital. I’ve volunteered with both local and out of province rescue organizations and have successfully helped to rehabilitate many dogs previously deemed too dangerous for adoption. I have love and respect for all animals but my passion for dogs is evident in almost everything I do.

Liv Better is named after my own dog, Olivia, the 10 year old Boston Terrier. Livie or Liv, as she is affectionately known, has been my guiding light and my very best friend since the very first moment I saw her in 2008. She is sensitive, and sassy and always up for a good adventure. She’s both ridiculously needy and surprisingly independent. She is tenacious and kind and everything I’ve ever wanted in a dog and friend. She certainly didn’t come without her challenges though and each and every lesson she learns teaches me more about the type of trainer and really the type of person I hope to be. I’m so grateful for the inspiration shes given me and hope I can help all my clients appreciate their own furry family members the way I appreciate her.

If you're looking for a professional, science-based dog trainer then look no further - I've got all your training needs covered! I offer a variety of group classes, private in-home training, personalized training plans, behaviour modification plans, one on one training walks and both short and long term board and trains. I also offer small group excursions and free group walks for dogs and their owners in St. John's and surrounding areas.

My company's focus is to assist owners in communicating with their dogs and to help them raise well-mannered, healthy, happy canine citizens in a fun, relaxed and safe environment. At Liv Better Dog Training I’m helping my clients do just that - live better, happier lives with both their human and furry family members! Looking forward to hearing from you soon :)
