Always believed that the best doberman was one with Mens sana in corpore sano, which translates to a healthy mind in a healthy body. I truly believe that what we produce has and always will be a dog with a healthy mind in a healthy body. Since the doberman is a working dog, we decided that joining a working dog club will help achieve this. The goal is to produce that all mighty Mens sana in corpor

e sano doberman. Follow our journey on this page as we attempt to achieve a smarter, healthier, stable working dog that is great around all family members. Be it human or animal. If you have a pup from Old Country Kennels, feel free to share photos and highlights of your baby.

And here he is, all calm, relaxed, not only my best friend but Tikka;s also! Mr Goofball, aka Mars, aka, Santa Dream Brainstorm!!

A bad photo from yesterday's dog show. Mars placed third out of three. At least he was not kicked out for bad behavior. lol Oh well, he is still our champion!. We will decide if we will continue to proceed or not. Thank you Mary Menchynska for your continued hard work with Mars and to my sister Joanne Marchand for not only coming to support Mars but also borrowing us her vehicle when mine acted up Saturday so we could make the show. And to my good friend and fellow doberman lover Alex Koenig and family for not only coming out yesterday but for their support in my journey with Old Country Kennels dobermans.

More from the show today!

So those that really know me, know that this is one event i am not a big fan of. Dog shows. But after Mars being in Canada for 4 years, and not performing in a show since late 2019 in Russia, i decided to enter him. A big thank you to Mary Menchynska for not only handling him but for all the hard work she has done in preparing him for this day. Great job Mary Menchynska!!! Mars did take a Reserve Winner. Is it the start of a rebirth to his show career? Maybe.

What a great Saturday. Mars and Tikka both met with the board certified cardiologist from Edmonton. Again, both passed with no signs of any heart issues!! Hope to gt their 24 hour holter test done in the next month so they will have the advanced cardiology certification. Also had a discussion with the cardiologist regarding DCM in dobermans. And a awesome chat regarding the feeding of dobermans, what to look for in food, what to avoid and the brands that in her opinion and mine that are good to feed. Here are the test results for both of my crew. Way to go Mars and Tikka!!

Apparently it is rest time. It is a tough job being in heat and guarding the house. And Mars, his toughest job is to leave Tikka alone at this time!

People message me asking questions about the pup. I answer all questions, discuss price, all is good and they want to move forward. They are told they still must fill out a puppy application. Sure, they will fill it out. Then they ghost you. Your communication with me or lack of communication helps me decide if you qualify for a pup. My concern for the crew does not end when they go to new homes. it actually intensifies. If you can't answer simple questions in a timely fashion, can't respond to messages now, what will it be like when you have my pup? The reason i have pups later than other people, because i give a s**t where they go and who they go with. I know when i breed the bitch, that i may be keeping a whole litter here, but they will not just go to the first person with a handful of money! These people that refuse to answer questions, refuse to fill out the puppy application, ghost me and many other things, is the biggest reason for me wanting to retire. The older i get, the more i despise people and love my dogs!!

10/17/2023

I don't get it. People see my ad that i am looking for a guardian home for one of the pups. They contact me. They think they would make a great home for the pup. They will do so much with the pup, everyone is on board in the family. They think they are going to get a free pup. NOT. I discuss the price and the terms of the placement and they say OK. We will get back to you, i have to discuss it with the family if they want a pup at this time. What? You said everyone is on board. Ah, but now it is not a free dog. That is the issue.
