Happy first birthday to the Dukes of Hazzard crew! So hard to believe a year has gone by already. All of them are doing amazing and ended up in the perfect homes for them. Updates from adopters:

LUKE (now Lestat) and JESSE (now Louis): They are crazy, super energetic and into EVERYTHING. That's Louis standing up....hilarious whenever this happens. (They were named after the Vampires in the Anne Rice series, to match the adopter's other cat Lucifer :) )

DUKE (now Sebastian): Sebastian is doing fantastic. He’s become quite a big boy. He loves to snuggle with his mom still and loves to cause trouble. (Duke was renamed Sebastian to go along with the "little mermaid theme" of his Momma Ariel).

ROSCO (now Ariel or Aries for short): He is a handsome, sweet guy who has calmed down from his rowdy kitten days, but still eager to play with us and the other two cats. He is a big cat- he feels like a true miniature panther. He is very muscular and big-boned. He still has a tiny little squeak for a meow which is quite disarming. He has been a great addition to our home. Rosco was renamed Ariel, referring to the Hebrew “Lion of God”. He is nicknamed Aries since he definitely lives up to his astrological sign.

And momma Ariel is doing well too! She was adopted along with Sebastian and here's the update on her...

ARIEL: Ariel is doing really well too. She is the biggest suck for attention and pets. When my mom comes home from work she goes in her room and they watch tv together till bed time.

UPDATE FROM ARIEL & DUKE (NOW SEBASTIAN)’s NEW FAMILY!
Ariel & Duke (now Sebastian) are settling in well and continue to enjoy snuggling and playing together. Sebastian loves watching the resident guinea pig and following the other resident cats around. Ariel loves watching tv and exploring the house at night.

(P.S. Sebastian was renamed to go with the “Little Mermaid” theme like his momma Ariel)

So lovely to hear all of these updates and to know that everyone from my little foster family is so loved and cared for 😊

Rosco is loving exploring the balcony garden and especially loves the fresh home-grown cat nip. He is also having lots of fun playing with his new buddies, Charlie and Bronson :)

You can see here, cats walk on their toes. When a cat is declawed it’s an amputation to the first joint. Basically, the toes are amputated. This changes the way a cat walks and over time causes arthritis to multiple areas of the cat's body. Declawed cats often avoid the litter box because of pain in the feet and arthritis in the body. Please do not declaw your cat - it can cause serious health problems during their lifetime, and there are many solutions to discourage scratching on furniture.
If this is something that you are considering , perhaps you should get a gold fish instead.

Happy Adoption Day to Jesse and Luke! TOGETHER!

I couldn't be happier to announce this perfect ending for Jesse & Luke. They went to their new forever home today, where they will join a 2-year old kitty playmate. They were adopted by a wonderful couple who have prior experience with raising kitten brothers (who lived to be 20 and 22!) and know the joy of this experience. The adopter went into the store intending to adopt one, but just couldn't separate them once she met them :)

And then there were two....

Jesse and Luke, the two fully black kittens, are the only ones who haven't been adopted from their litter yet. Sadly, this is often the case as black cats have the lowest rate of adoption of any colour. Even sadder, black cats have the highest euthanasia rates in shelters that euthanize (no, Heavenly Hills Animal Sanctuary is not one of those!).

But we're not giving up hope for our adorable little mini-panthers. So we wanted to share with you just a few reasons why black cats rock!

Happy Adoption Day to ROSCO!!

I am happy to announce that Rosco went to his forever home today. He has been adopted by a lovely couple, and he will have two other kitty playmates in his new home, which is purrrrfect! We heard from the adopter that as soon as she opened the carrier he licked her on the nose and stretched out for belly rubs :)

Let's not make sweet Jesse and Luke another statistic. They deserve to be loved, like everyone else. And they will return your love tenfold...they are such snugglebums!

Luke, Jesse and Rosco have a message for you.

“Please adopt us so we can run free again! The staff here are SO lovely and kind…but a cage is not a home. We don’t understand why we’re here. There are so many strange sights, smells and sounds. We miss sleeping on a big comfy bed. We miss having floor space to chase after balls. We miss cuddles. We’re trying not to be sad but we wonder why we’ve been here almost two weeks and no one has chosen us😞. We’re SUCH good boys…just ask our foster mama!”

ADOPTED - TOGETHER! - ARIEL & DUKE
I am so so happy to announce that Duke & Ariel have been adopted together and were reunited today in their forever home. I couldn't imagine a better ending for them. These two have always had a special bond and now they'll get to play and snuggle together for the rest of their days 😊💕

JESSE, DUKE, LUKE & ROSCO - still waiting for their forever homes!

These 4 month old sweethearts are still at Pet Valu waiting for their special people to find them. They have the BEST personalities and are all little snugglers. To know them is to love them. We sure miss them here, but are hoping that people will find out about them quicker with them being at the store.

But let's not make them stay there too long! Please help spread the word about these little darlings so they can get back to living in a home environment (their forever home this time) soon.

SPOTLIGHT ON ARIEL!

Ariel is a sweet, beautiful girl estimated to be between 1.5 to 2 years old.

Ariel was pregnant and living outdoors when she came to the attention of Heavenly Hills. She gave birth to a beautiful litter of kittens while in foster care and she has been SUCH a good mama. From the beginning she was a natural, purring away while nursing her kittens and making “air patties” with her paws.

It didn’t take long for Ariel for to get used to the indoor life. While she was a bit wary of people at first, over time she discovered that she loves snuggling in laps and getting pets and belly rubs.

Once her babies got older, Ariel was quite happy to have playmates as she’s a bit of a kitten at heart. She loves chasing after balls and other toys, and hanging out on the cat tree.

Ariel could be adopted on her own, but she could also be adopted with her son Duke - who she is quite attached to, and vice versa. (P.S. There are so many benefits to adopting 2! And especially if they already know each other and get along!). She is spayed and vetted and ready for her forever home.

Well the babies are off to the store and I’m hoping to hear great updates (which I’ll pass on to you!) soon. In the meantime I’m hanging out with Ariel so she doesn’t get too lonely. So far she’s okay but I don’t think she’s realized they’re not coming back yet.

I’ll be doing a “spotlight on Ariel” tomorrow but in the mean time here’s a little video of her from today.

Well, it's my last full day with these littles, so I thought I'd do one last photo shoot. Since they haven't been adopted yet (crazy, right?!), they will be heading to a Pet Valu in London (Dundas Street location) tomorrow to be showcased for potential adopters.

Sweethearts, may your perfect people find you soon and may they be absolutely wonderful. May they play with you, and snuggle you, and pet your bellies whenever you want them to.

SPOTLIGHT ON JESSE!

Jesse makes us laugh every single day. He finds every new thing he encounters EXTREMELY interesting and the wide-eyed look you see in many of his pics is pretty much how he usually looks! He is so curious and loves to explore.

This 16-week old cutie (born April 11, 2022) also loves climbing, jumping and snuggling. He is quite a fast runner too, but always slows down enough to let you catch him. When he’s not playing or adventuring, he loves snuggling up in laps or stretching out alongside you for a belly rub or pets. He also loves snuggling and/or wrestling and playing with his brothers Rosco, Duke, and Luke and his Momma, Ariel.

Jesse can be adopted on his own or (even better!) with one or more of his brothers or Momma.

SPOTLIGHT ON ROSCO!

This 16-week old sweetie (born April 11, 2022) is equal parts playful and snuggly.

Rosco has always been one of the first in his litter to try new things; the first to crawl out of the box, the first to crawl in a lap, and an early-adopter of the litter box and dry food 😊 He is a very confident and social boy.

Right from birth, Rosco has absolutely loved belly rubs. He stretches out to show you his belly (with it’s cute white splotches) and then purrs away while you pet it. He will also gladly nap with you, if you’ll let him.

Like most kittens, Rosco is also very playful and loves playing with balls, toys and anything else that might be dropped in front of him, as well as hanging out on the cat tree. He also loves snuggling and/or wrestling and playing with his brothers Jesse, Duke, and Luke and his Momma, Ariel.

SPOTLIGHT ON DUKE!

Duke (born April 11, 2022) is a sweet, playful kitten with beautiful markings – especially on his cute little belly! He loves pets, belly rubs, and snuggling up in laps. You’ll know when Duke is happy because he kneads (also known as “making biscuits”) and purrs away.

Like most kittens, Duke loves playing with balls, toys and anything else that might be dropped in front of him, as well as hanging out on the cat tree. He also loves snuggling and/or wrestling and playing with his brothers Rosco, Jesse, and Luke and his Momma, Ariel. He especially loves napping with his brother Luke. We regularly find Luke and Duke sleeping in the most adorable positions together.

Fun fact about Duke: We originally thought Duke was a girl (it’s hard to tell for those first couple week!) so he was named “Daisy” at first. Don’t worry, he doesn’t seem to have suffered from an identity crisis 😊

Duke can be adopted on his own or (even better!) with one or more of his brothers or Momma. He has been neutered and has received age-appropriate vaccines and preventative flea/parasite treatment.
