Dog behaviour can be changed; it just takes time, patients and effort! πΎπ₯°π
I want to preface this with saying that I fully understand there are A LOT of Dog Professionals who do not understand Dog Psychology. Many of my clients have been through multiple trainers/vet behaviorists and received some pretty sh*tty guidance, at times making the situation even worse.
If you follow our page, you should know what to look for when hiring a professional to help you understand your dog. As I'm typing this, I'm realizing I should do a video/blog on what to look for when hiring a dog professional so you find the right person.
Also, I offer video call consultations if I'm not in your state/country and travel is not possible. Feel free to DM me and ask if I know someone in your area. Please know that I will only suggest people that I can confidently recommend.
For the purpose of this post, let's assume you found a great dog professional who understands Dog Psychology and has a lot of experience.
We have to understand that at the end of the day, our dog is OUR DOG. It's our responsibility. If the dog professional is more committed than you, don't even bother moving forward. If you are seeking a quick fix, your impatience will make things impossible.
If your dog is not a real priority for you and you're hiring someone just to tell others you "tried," just understand you paid someone to make others think you actually made an effort. In reality you're just lying to them, yourself and your dog.
If you're not willing to make life adjustments, be open minded, try new things to grow individually and instead have the narrative that your dog is fu**ed up and he needs to adjust for you, you're setting you and your dog up for failure.
It's imperative, first and foremost that you believe you can have success finding balance. Remember it's the belief BEFORE the "how-to," not the other way around. If you are super committed, open-minded, willing to listen, take accountability instead of making excuses, get out of your comfort zone, try to understand what your dog is telling you about your energy and will follow through no matter what it takes to succeed, you will get there!
If you are working with someone and unsure about their strategy or energy, DM me!
