jack needs a lift
This little guy is looking for a ride from Edmonton or Calgary to Surrey....
Jack is 9 months old and special needs.
Is there anyone travelling this week or on Thanksgiving weekend that can give this little hitchhiker a lift? He's sweet as cherry pie..
Update On Chance!
Some of you may remember in November 2021, we removed 33 due from a horrendous hoarding situation. The hoarder was actually a "rescuer" with charitable status.
Today we share an update on Chance!
He was so terrified and shut down.
I didn't want to give up on him.
He stayed at headquarters for about 10 months. He couldn't just go to anyone. We had to find a foster who knew how to manage his fears, and work with him, never setting him up to fail.
I met Sabrina from Camp Pawsible so many years ago, when she adopted 2 of our fearful dogs. I trusted her 100% with Chance.
2.5 years later, I cry when I see how happy he is. I knew that happy boy was in there somewhere, despite the abuse, the neglect, and the filth they were subjected to living in.
He came with his 3 pals Chubbs, Apricot and Biscuit. And we will share updates of them later!
Your donations help us continue to save dogs like Chance and all his friends!

It's a busy Canada Day long weekend here at LMHS! We took in 3 corgis. 4 standard poodles and 2 full size doodles.
They will all be up for adoption AFTER they are fully vetted and assessed.
No rest for us this weekend!
Corgi mania
3 Corgis were surrendered today. They lived primarily outside in the yard. They are grossly overweight especially coco the tri colored one). They have long nails, matted, poo caked bums. But they are so friendly and desperate for love and affection.
We are seeking FOSTER HOMES ONLY at this time, within the Lower Mainland ONLY.
These dogs are friendly but have never been leash trained. To foster, you must be able to transport these dogs to one of the vets we work with for their spays, neuters, vaccines and microchips..(either Abbotsford or Surrey). You should also have the knowledge and ability to leash and house train..
We have NOT tested them with cats or other dogs yet. Nor do we know if they like children, so let's do No young children to be on the safe side..
A home with NO STAIRS would be best because they are very overweight and can hardly do the one step into their area.
Please go to our website and submit a foster application if you think you can help. Here's the link

Because Facebook STILL hasn't allowed Pages or Business Suite to post video and photos at the same time, I will post photos in comments (hopefully if it works)

Little bit of an update on Spice (one of the GSD that were dumped in Surrey about a month ago), and Shanti, another stray GSD that came here last summer as a transfer from Vancouver Animal Services.
It's a little bit of a longer video, with a little glimpse into our private off leash dog park and our private walking trails, all on the property where LMHS works out of.
Shanti was a bit reactive at first, she always is when meeting new dogs. Spice took it like a champ! After about 45 minutes and into the second part of the video, Shanti and Spice were like besties.
I love seeing progress!
Spice is one of the female Shepherds that had been dumped in Surrey. She's coming out of her shell so quickly!
We would love to find her a foster home within the Lower Mainland so she's close to our vets for her future needs..
The perfect foster home:
1) Another large dog (or more than one), that is friendly, confident and somewhat playful.
2) Has a fenced yard for leash training and confidence building before venturing off property.
3) Not gone for more than 6 hours a day because she would need to be crated when nobody is supervising her, and we don't want her to be locked in a crate for longer than 6 hours. (A couple with overlapping schedules would work well)
4) No cats or small dogs because we don't know what she's like with either.
5) No small children please.
6) Some experience with fearful dogs, and reading body language
7) ability to transport to and from our vet in Surrey when needed.
If you think you would be the perfect foster for Spice, to help her become an excellent, well behaved girl so she can be adopted into a forever home, please contact us!!
There's a foster application on our website and we do home visits as well.

Please share so we can find her the perfect place to start her new journey!
Thank you!
Update on the GSDs.
Spice finally went to the vet today, she was very stressed. She is now separated from her sister Sugar and is at LMHS headquarters for some assessment, socialization, and down time. We should be able to assess her in a few weeks to see what kind of foster home she would fit into.
This video shows Spice at the vet, and arriving at headquarters (so nervous, just like the other 2 were at first).
I attached a video of the male Shepherd (now Buddy) at the end of this video clip, in his new foster home! He is doing so well, we are all so proud of him!
We will post again later when Spice is ready to find her foster home..
We would love it if you all could help out by donating a little something something to help us cover the veterinary bills incurred and will continue to incur in the near future for these 3.
So far they have had their 1st vaccines, microchips, 2 sets of deworming, flea treatment, and fecal floats. Coming up in a few weeks they will get their 2nd vaccines and they will have to be spayed and neutered (prior to being adopted). Plus they will need their 3rd booster vaccine after that.
Your donations are tax deductible and help us continue to give dogs like these 3 babes a chance at a better life.

Today we decided to try off leash with the male Shepherd! He's doing amazing, with patience, kindness, lots of praise, and a couple of gentle giant dogs leading the way... This is where we are at in 2 weeks..
This is the LMHS headquarters private off leash dog park, fully fenced 4 acres. We wanted to work with Shep before sending him to a foster home.
We have secured a foster for him, and he will be heading off in a week or so. Then we will bring Spice (the reactive female) to head quarters to work with her for a few weeks until she trusts a bit more.
More updates to come!

UPDATE on the 3 dumped GSDs..
Shep (male) and Sugar (female) have been getting one on one work since they were cleared by the vet. They've been coming along really nicely. Shep doesn't feel the need to hide anymore, and Sugar likes her walks..
Spice is the third one, and we haven't had her to the vet yet, but this coming week, she will be heading to get checked out (we totally forgot about Easter long weekend!).
We've secured foster for Shep and Sugar. And that will leave Spice! Once we have her vetted and assessed we will post another update.
Update on the 3 GSD pups that were found in Surrey.
2 of them have seen the vet for exams, vaccines, deworming (full of worms they are), flea and tick treatment and fecal floats (negative for coccidia, giardia etc). 3rd one goes in next week.
They are underweight, but ok other than being full of worms. The male has a soft tissue injury on his front left leg, being managed with anti inflammatory medications.
None of these dogs have microchips or tattoos. No identification.
They are NOT currently available for adoption.
They are absolutely terrified of humans, and everything in the outside world. They have obviously never been socialized, and by the way they behave, they did not have much positive interactions (or much interactions) with humans at all, nor did they see much of the outdoors..
They have zero leash training. All they want to do when we get them on a leash outside is
1) try to get away by doing alligator rolls or
2) try to hide behind anything they can, or
3) make themselves as small as posibble, avoiding eye contact.
We are currently looking to put them into FOSTER HOMES only, within the lower mainland. They will need some long term rehab to get over their fears and traumas, and foster homes help them become more adoptable. We cannot send foster dogs outside of the lower mainland because
1) they need veterinary care, and our vets are local to us and 2) we cannot provide support in the way of training advice, supplies, or meds if they are not close by.
They are NOT available for adoption because, 1) we do not want to set them up to fail and
2) they are not highly adoptable at this time
They will not be staying together because
1) they are all fear reactive and they feed off of each other negatively and 2) They need to be socialized In one on one controlled interactions with humans, and with confident, gentle, non reactive dogs (no small dogs or cats at this time).
We have booked a few home visits for foster homes already,
