About Me

My name is Matthew Scott, I’ve lived in Tillsonburg for close to 10 years now and moved out here to get away from the city where I lived before here. Since moving to Tillsonburg I feel like this is where I belong. I love the small town feel of the community, who I’ve come to know both through my experiences walking my dogs as well as working as a waiter in town. I’ve had an affinity with

animals ever since my first turtle ‘Tommy’ and cat ‘Sassy’. As a child my cats would always want to spend the night in my room and as I got older and began to own dogs I found just how much they can learn when you are “Firm, Fair and Fun” with them. I’ve owned dogs for close to 20 years now, and used and improved this “Firm, Fair and Fun” style of training with a variety of different breeds and sizes, from Jack Russel Terriers, to Yorkies, to Golden/Lab/Husky/Rottweiler mix and had well behaved, happy, healthy pooches of them all. After seeing how much success we were having with my first dog ‘Lucy’ the Jack Russel Terrier, I decided to get some professional experience, which came from training Seeing-Eye Dogs and Special Skills Dogs for persons with disabilities while working at Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides in Oakville, Ontario where I successfully trained and placed over 40 service dogs. I absolutely love being around my dogs and want to help as many people feel the same way about their pooch(es) as I do about mine, and I have decided that now is the perfect time in my life to make my passion my full time career. Training Style

I have used what I learned at LFC Dog Guides and my own personal experiences to find a training style that I feel results in the most well rounded, happy, and respectful dog in your home. Too much negative reinforcement can create a dog that is simply AFRAID to do the wrong thing. I use positive reinforcement training in a way the creates a dog that LOVES to do the right thing using my “Firm, Fair and Fun” style, and importantly, I take into consideration you and your dog’s unique personality in crafting solutions that will achieve your desired results. Other training styles can be rigid to the point that the techniques instructed are one’s that are difficult for your dog, or even yourself, to process. Unless a solution that YOU are comfortable with and that your dog interprets correctly is suggested, then you won’t be successful. Let me help you create a happy, healthy environment, but with firm, fair boundaries, so that you and your dog can achieve the bond you desire!
