Choosing a dog walker...
In Timmins there are a few really great options for your canines. How do you choose?
I personally think insurance is an important consideration. Dog walkers will work to ensure that nothing bad happens, but we can't control everything. Insurance can cover vet bills if your dog is injured, or is responsible for injury to another dog. It can also cover your residence while walkers pick up your pup. Run a Mutt is insured for on leash walking up to six dogs, dog training, and massage services.
Off leash services can be great! Letting dogs run and play. Please ask where your walker lets dogs off leash. We've encountered walkers with off leash dogs on "leash-required" trails. Many providers will use designated off leash trails, or head off the beaten track (or have even sourced private spaces for their off leash adventures, which is the gold standard!). Jeff Latham also provides off leash fun in more of a "day camp" format with dogs being dropped off in the morning and picked up after work.
Leash walks may be what you're looking for - we can definitely do that. However, if your dog needs assistance (loose leash walking, reactivity training) then I do limit walks to when temperatures are above zero. I primarily use treats to reward desirable behaviors, and dishing out rewards with good timing is difficult in mittens. The main difference with Run a Mutt is our switch to dogpowered sports when conditions allow. This includes dogsledding, bikejore, and canicross. Great for the dog that needs more than a walk, but can't really be trusted off leash.
