Rescuedogsruleto I LOVE DOGS. And I was so lucky to volunteer with EHS for 7 years. Dogs are awesome, but they come with responsibility: time, patience, love and financial costs.

But it is so worth it! Together we can rescue one dog at a time.

The 'rule of 3' provides guidance on what to expect through your dog adoption (or foster) journey. Every dog needs patience, love, time and work. (All those well behaved dogs you meet are because their humans have put in the work.)

Cats too ! Give your new addition(s) time to get settled ♥️🐾🐱🐶

These past few years have taught me to think about the dog's needs more than my own. If you listen, you will hear (or see) what each dogs needs in that moment.

Dogs communicate at different “volumes.” Noticing and listening to the more subtle signs (low volume) enables us to intervene and help dogs feel more comfortable so they don’t resort to the more overt signs (high volume).

I'm lucky enough to spend time with these amazing dogs. If you are a fan of larger dogs, check out Clooney's profile. I'm definitely a fan of this big boy!

After spending some time with Clooney, he has made it abundantly clear how he got his name. Like his namesake George Clooney, he is a real gentleman! Clooney makes everyone feel welcome with warm and friendly greetings and he is great on a walk - politely and quietly walking by the people and other dogs he passes.

ABOUT CLOONEY

- Sharpei/Lab/Mastiff mix, Extra-large sized, Low-medium energy
- 6 year-old, Male, 85 lbs
- Unclaimed stray from an over-crowded municipal shelter
- Clooney will be your constant companion, he’s a go with the flow kinda guy
- Good in a car, he’ll jump right in with you!
- He is neutered, house-trained, microchipped and has his core vaccinations

Please visit our website for more information on Clooney. https://etobicokehumanesociety.com/dog/clooney/

All rescue dogs are special, but sometimes there is a rescue that steals a little more of your heart than others. Read Angel's (Cinderella to us Etobicoke Humane Society volunteers) heartwarming story.

Found in 2020 on the streets of Bahrain in a hazardous situation, a local shelter brought Cinderella in for care. Due to the pandemic and limited resources, she was often only visited once daily, leading to minimal human interaction. After connecting with EHS, we arranged for her transport to Canada, where she arrived in a cold December 2022. Cinderella found her happy tail new beginnings in a wonderful new home.

After four months in our shelter, a case of perfect timing led her to her forever home. In May 2023, after her soon-to-be family sadly lost their dog, they made a trip to the shelter to donate their pet’s belongings. They didn't feel ready for a new dog, but the shelter visit inspired them to look into the available cats. So, they began looking at EHS’s website and inevitably ended up on the available dog page, where they came across Cinderella.
