ADOPTED!! Milo went on an adventure today and drove from Ottawa to Toronto. He’s now settling in with his temporary foster. He’s just the sweetest boy. ❤️ Just two sleeps before he goes to his forever home! 🥹🥰 Special thanks to Critter Cabs: Animal Rescue Transports for helping Milo make his way across the province.

ADOPTED! Hi everyone. I am posting this for . Meet Milo. He is a very good boy who was brought to Canada in April of this year and has been fostered near Ottawa since that time. He needs a foster or adopter anywhere in central or southern Ontario (but not in the city) before September 12, or he will be forced to go back to Mexico, which is not a good scenario for this wonderful boy. He is happy and friendly and playful, but can be selective with other male dogs so he would be best in a home with another female dog rather than a male. If you know anyone who might be able to step in to avoid him having to go back to Mexico, where his prospects for a forever home are almost zero, please reach out. I can connect you with Brittany who will be able to provide you more detailed information. Worse comes to worse, I would take on responsibility for him myself. I just can’t foster him because I have a male dog in the house. Is there anyone who would be willing to help?

Guess who went to his very own home today?? Pirata is an example of a dog that was saved because a village came together to help him. He was removed from his home by authorities and I had him pulled from the shelter mere hours before he was to be euthanized. Dogs at the shelter have only 10 days to be adopted or they are put down. So many people came together to help this boy. Now, after months of waiting, he is finally going home with the most beautiful family of his very own. I’m not going to pretend I’m not crying over here. 🥹🥹 This may be one of my favourite adoptions ever, but I’m biased. Thank you to Amber and her incredible family for giving him the loving home he has never had. Happy trails sweet Pirata. You deserve all of it and more. ❤️

Hi again. Remember Pirata? He still has no home of his own. One person finally went to meet him but turned him down. Why? He was too small. Sigh. So we are back to the drawing board. Pirata (or Pirate 🏴‍☠️, or Pixel) remains an incredibly sweet dog. He has been with my rescue for four months and gets no interest. 🦗🦗🦗

But Whyyyyy? Pirate is uniquely adorable. I just can’t get over his funny ears. He loves people and would make a cuddly companion to any family. Yes, he need some training. No, he’s not perfect but he’s pretty darned close to perfect! If someone was willing to put just a little bit of work into him, he will shine. Just ask Tyler at who has so generously helped and worked with Pirata. Everyone who gets to know him loves him. He is food-motivated and eager to learn. He truly wants to make people happy so will likely become perfect in short order. He shouldn’t be in an urban setting so a quiet country or suburban setting would be ideal. He has not been tested with cats so better safe than sorry. Other dogs? ✅ Older kids? ✅ Daily snuggles? ✅ He would honestly just be happy to be safe and loved. Could you be his person? Pirata is currently being fostered in Port Colborne, Ontario.

Pirate is about two years old, neutered and up-to-date with his shots and preventives. Check out his adoption profile here: https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/41222059-toronto-ontario-mutt-mutt-mix

If you have any any questions, please reach out and ask. And please share far and wide and break this streak of no interest. He is so deserving of his own forever family.

Pirata had a meet and greet, but he was rejected. It was not his fault. He did nothing wrong. He still needs a home of his own. The first couple of years of his life weren’t great but he did not let that get him down. He loves people so much. He will be your very best friend. Check out his bio on Adopt-a-Pet for more information. If you’re interested, please fill out an application.

Hi everyone. Remember Pirate (aka Pirata aka Pixel)? I’m going to keep posting him until a potential adopter sees what his foster family and I both see in him… that he’s just an incredible sweet dog who is loyal to a fault. He has been with my rescue since April 5th and I’m confused as to why he still has not had one - not ONE - application or serious inquiry into adopting him. Just crickets. 🦗

Is his profile not compelling enough? Is he not cute enough? Is he too old? Too young? Too short? Too tall? Too happy? Too tragic? Is he too friendly or too protective? Or is it that he is my only rescue dog and that looks suspicious to people? I’m just a regular person trying to help a wonderful dog find a home. 🤷‍♀️😩

Pirate deserves so much more. He just adores people and would make a cuddly companion to any family. Does he need some training? Sure. He could use some training. Is he perfect? No, but he’s pretty darned close to perfect! He is food-motivated and eager to learn. He wants to make you happy so will likely become perfect in short order. Other dogs? ✅ Older kids? ✅ Daily snuggles? ✅ He would honestly just be happy to be safe and loved.

GQ pup alert!

Please don’t forget our little guy Pirata who has not had a single inquiry since he came into my rescue. He is still young but had a very rough start as a neglected roof dog in Mexico. Authorities pulled him from his home, but he ended up in a municipal shelter where he was about to be euthanized. I couldn’t take it. He did not deserve to die so I agreed to bring him to Canada and find him the perfect home…. but, no one wants him. No one even asks about him and I can’t understand why.

Pirata is 100% Meximutt estimated to be about two years old. He is sweet, affectionate, friendly, playful, goofy, and just plain silly. Pirata is sensitive and will pick up on the energy around him. He can be also protective because that’s what he was expected to do for the first two years of his life. But I think he will be the most wonderful and loyal family member imaginable. I think he would be good in a home with older kids. He is good with other dogs who match his style and energy. He does have a prey drive so it’s probably not OK for him to be in a home with cats.

An urban environment is probably not for him because he doesn’t like surprises. In a city, there are just too many unknowns just around the corner. He would love a yard where he could run around and play and be silly.

Please don’t let him spend the next two years of his life without his own family. He deserves so much better. He’s currently being fostered in Port Colburn Ontario. if you are interested, please send a DM and I’m happy to answer any questions you might have. Or you can complete an adoption application at the link in my bio.

Hi everyone. Krista here. Yesterday I moved Pirata to a more country setting with a wonderful trainer at MNM K-9 where he will be able to run around and be socialized with other dogs. Not an easy decision since his foster loved him so much. He’s such a good boy, but he needs a chance to dog. I’m hoping to watch him blossom. Here’s a pic of him enjoying a treat before leaving Toronto. If anyone’s interested in Pirata, please reach out. He’s so deserving of a wonderful home.

Hey friends. I may need a new foster for Pirata, preferably in an area quieter than downtown Toronto. My current foster is in an apartment and I don’t think that’s the right environment and Pirata likely needs to be moved. He would prefer to be the only dog but he has integrated with other dogs so it’s possible. A more experienced foster could manage this appropriately. Please send me a DM if you have any thoughts or share with anyone you think might be interested in helping out.

Not one expression of interest? But he’s so good! 🥹

“Meet Pirate! His past was not great as a badly neglected roof dog in Mexico. A kind neighbour once took him to the vet to have his eye removed when it became badly infected but his life on the roof, exposed to the elements with little food or water, did not improve. Eventually, Pirate was removed from the home by authorities and he was taken to a shelter where he was likely to be euthanized. He was a favourite of shelter volunteers since there wasn't a human he did not LOVE. Lucky for Pirate, he was pulled by Pye Dog Rescue and brought to Canada. Pirate LOVES people so much he can barely contain himself. He is happy and exuberant and will jump on people because he does not know any better. We think it is best that he not go to a home with small children but would be fine with older and respectful kids. He is dog selective but may do well in a home with another calm, submissive dog. He integrated well with several other dogs at a rescue while waiting to come to Canada. We think Pirata will be an amazing companion and he would thrive in a quieter setting with a big fenced yard where he can run around and be silly. He does seem to have a prey drive so a home with no cats or small animals would be ideal.”

Pye dog (or pariah dog) is a term used for street dogs in Asia. It basically means "outsider". This rescue aims to ensure that the dogs we bring into our care are never treated like pariahs. We do not aspire to become a big rescue. Our plan is to simply help one dog at a time.
