BRUNO
Bruno is the dog version of that friendly, easygoing guy everyone liked in high school — the one who fit in with both the jocks and the nerds and somehow managed to be both goofy and genuinely sweet. The guy who'd be a golden retriever if he were a dog...Bruno is essentially a golden in a glossy brindle coat. He’s a solid 65 pounds of tail-wagging charm, with the kind of open-hearted energy that makes you feel like you’ve known him forever. He just wants to hang out, be part of the group, and soak up all the love you’ve got.
He’s three years old and has a face that could melt a snowbank — big brown eyes, soft velvet ears, and fur like dark marble, all warm stripes and shine. He turns heads. And he leans. Always leaning. On your leg, on the couch, against the kid — he likes to be touching someone at all times, like a very handsome, slightly oversized, living heated blanket.
Bruno is a dog who loves his people. He’s been living in foster care with a young family, and his favorite human is the 8-year-old girl of the house. She bathes him, dresses him up, wraps him in blankets, and treats him like her personal real-life stuffie — and Bruno just soaks it up. They roll around and play and wrestle like a couple of puppies. It’s ridiculously sweet.
He’s also got a foster dog sister who’s his absolute best buddy — they play hard, roughhouse with glee, and keep each other entertained in the best way. The other resident dog doesn’t care for him and has made that known — and while Bruno doesn’t go looking for trouble, he’s not one to back down if someone picks a fight. So he needs a doggy sibling who wants a playmate, one who enjoys his bouncy, full-contact style of play. A female is probably the best bet, but the right male could work too.
Bruno’s story isn’t dramatic, but it is quietly heartbreaking. He was adopted from a shelter as a tiny puppy — and about a year and a half later, he was picked up as a stray and ended up right back in the same overcrowded, underfunded shelter he came from. No one came for him. That was more than a year ago, and he’s been in rescue ever since — waiting.
But here’s the thing: Bruno didn’t come out of that experience shut down, or scared, or wild. He’s just… Bruno. A cheerful, steady, affectionate guy who’s eager to belong. He didn’t need fixing — he just needed a chance.
He’s crate-trained, house-trained, knows his cues, walks nicely on leash, and rides well in the car. He loves going on adventures and will stick with his people like a good teammate on the trail. And once he’s home, he’s a world-class snuggler who’ll find a way to press himself against you even if the couch is already full. He really just wants to be near his people.
He does best with kind leadership and a steady routine — praise, patience, play. Yelling or heavy hands will only confuse him. He’s a dog who thrives on connection, and he gives it right back tenfold.
Bruno has been waiting far too long for a family of his own. If you’re looking for a dog who’s equal parts jock, teddy bear, and trail buddy — a dog who plays hard, snuggles harder, and looks deeply handsome doing both — come meet Bruno. He’s so ready to be somebody’s best boy.
