They’ll be snug as a bug in a rug.
It’s impossible to be two places at once but that’s just what we kind of do when we go on vacation and worry about what is going on at home at the same time. I know, I’ve been there, a long time ago, with our first dog, Cody. We chose to put him in pet boarding once while we travelled. It was excruciating for him as well as the people trying to care for him. He was out of his element, nothing was familiar and the constant noise of the other animals.... well, let’s just say he wasn’t happy at all. I wished I had somewhere familiar that I could bring him so it wasn’t so traumatizing for him but at that time, I didn’t. Our pets really are part of our family and we don’t want to see any of our family members in anxiety or stress. At the same time, it’s impractical to bring all of your pets on your vacation, and sometimes where you are going don’t allow pets. Or if a family emergency happens and you can’t bring them with you, you need someone who can be there for your family.
When you travel whether it’s for business or to get away from it all, wouldn’t it be a relief to know that someone who is responsible, reliable, with references and decades of experience with all sorts of pets was on duty at home? Just knowing that they were coming over once a day to keep an eye on things and make sure the rest of your family is still being loved and nurtured in your absence would give you a sense of security, wouldn’t it?
This is really how Carrie Cares started. A friend posted on Facebook looking for recommendations on a reliable cat sitter. I saw the post and reacted immediately. I thought, “I can do that! I’ve been missing being around cats and my friend could use my help.” Plus, my current position at Home Instead Senior Care was not able to give me a full client roster and I have the time. Then it hit me, “This is my dream come true! How could it get any better than this?! For my ‘jobs’ I get to assist seniors in their daily lives AND I get to love other people’s pets while they are away!” So my friend and I spoke and she seemed happy and relieved that I was going to be there for her fur baby while she was away.
I’m told the energy around me is soft and gentle and I have a lot of compassion for people and pets alike. I have had pets around me my whole life. I grew up having budgies. To this day, they are still one of my favourite pets. My life has been enriched by 7 budgies, dozens of cats, (I include close friends’ and family’s too as I love them just as much as my own) 15 dogs of various sizes, a ferret, a rat, a few hamsters, two guinea pigs and a bunny. At one point I also lived with piranha, an oscar, and fresh water fish in various sized aquariums. I also have spent some time with friends’ who had reptilian friends (though I haven’t adopted any of my own), I have had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with a monitor, a water monitor, an albino python, a few tarantula, various lizards and a scorpion. So even your creepier pets could still get love while you are away. LOL
