Animals at Bervie Zoo in Kincardine, Ontario, are suffering in barren, filthy, and potentially unlawful conditions.
New footage shows lions and tigers pacing in cramped cages, bears circling small, dirty pens with minimal enrichment, and other animals displaying concerning behaviours.
For the fourth year in a row, Animal Justice has filed a legal complaint with Ontario’s Animal Welfare Services, demanding urgent action to protect the animals at this roadside zoo. Boogie, a Japanese macaque monkey, has been repeatedly documented showing signs of psychological distress, such as pacing, spinning, and self-harm. We believe Boogie is still suffering at the zoo.
Boogie and the other animals trapped at Bervie Zoo deserve better. Send a polite letter to Melanie Milczynski, Chief Animal Welfare Inspector and urge Animal Welfare Services to take immediate action to investigate the ongoing situation at Bervie Zoo, remove any animals found in distress, and ensure they are transferred to reputable sanctuaries!
Tip: Make sure to change up the subject and content of your letter to make sure it stands out and gets past the filters.
