Dog training isn’t just about teaching sit, stay, and roll over—it’s about mastering the roads and staying prepared for whatever life throws at us. Whether we’re navigating through busy streets, battling unexpected weather, or dealing with a flat tire, the dogs in our care come first.
At AngelKerr Dog Training & Pet Services, we believe that knowing how to fix a flat tire is just as crucial as knowing how to fix a behavioral issue. We’re on the road constantly, moving from client to client, and there’s no excuse for not getting your pups home safe and sound, no matter what challenges come our way.
Our commitment to the mental and physical well-being of your dogs goes beyond the training sessions. We pride ourselves on having the knowledge and common sense to handle any situation with care and professionalism.
Because for us, it’s not just about training dogs—it’s about ensuring they’re always in the best hands, from start to finish.

The Five Commandments of Dog Training
Hey dog lovers! At AngelKerr Dog Training, our core principles ensure effective and compassionate training. Today, let’s focus on the fifth commandment: Motivation.
5. Motivation
Ensuring that our dogs are motivated to work for us is one of the most crucial aspects of training. Here’s why:
• Controlled Access to Food: If your dog has constant access to food, they are less likely to respond to your cues in challenging or distracting scenarios.
• Matching Reward to Distraction: The value of a reward should match the level of distraction in the environment. A treat that works well inside the house might lose its appeal outside where there are many distractions.
• High-Value Rewards: Know what your dog values most, whether it’s a treat, toy, affection, or something else. Use these high-value rewards in the most distracting situations.
• Practical Tip: If you want to give your dog scraps, put them in a Ziploc bag and use them as high-value rewards at the park or in trigger-heavy environments.
Understanding and utilizing what motivates your dog ensures better compliance and a stronger bond. Keep your training effective by always considering your dog’s motivation.
1. Calm
Maintain a calm demeanor in any situation to build trust and prevent fear.
2. Consistency
Be consistent in everything, from hand cues and verbal commands to household rules.
3. Completion
Ensure tasks are completed before giving rewards. Freedom is a reward too.
4. Action
Fulfill your dog’s physical and mental needs daily for a happy, well-behaved.

Understanding Your Dog’s Unique Triggers: Meet Mr. Doc Martin!
Every dog has their own set of triggers, and sometimes these can be quite different from the norm. Take Mr. Doc Martin, for example. This little corgi has a very unique trigger—sneezing! As you can see in the video, even a fake sneeze can elicit a strong reaction from him.
Triggers can vary widely among dogs. While some may react to common stimuli like bouncing balls, barking dogs, or drones, others might be sensitive to more unusual triggers, like a sneeze. It’s crucial to recognize and address these triggers to help our dogs maintain a calm and relaxed demeanor in any spontaneous situation.
At Angel Kerr Dog Training, we specialize in desensitizing and counter-conditioning dogs to their specific triggers. Our goal is to ensure your furry friend can handle unexpected situations with ease and confidence. Whether it’s a sneeze, a passing drone, or a barking neighbor, we can help.
If you’re noticing that your dog has unique triggers and needs help, don’t hesitate to reach out. We offer free, no-obligation consultations to discuss your dog’s needs and how we can assist. Give us a call or text at 647-528-9442, or visit our website at angelkerrdogtraining.com to see a full list of our services.
Let’s work together to make sure your dog is happy, relaxed, and trigger-free!

**Product Review: Mud Buster Paw Cleaning System**
Tried out the Mud Buster Paw Cleaning System on Sunny, a sweet little 4-month-old pup who’s staying with us for puppy board and train.
This nifty gadget is a plastic tube with silicone inserts that act as a mini washing station for your dog’s paws. And let me tell you, it worked wonders!
Sunny had some seriously muddy paws, but with just water, the Mud Buster cleaned them right up. Next time, I’ll be using soap and only filling it halfway, changing the water after cleaning two paws – learned that from a little user error.
Overall, the Mud Buster is a game-changer for keeping those paws clean and our floors mud-free! Highly recommend it for all the dog parents out there.

**3. Completion **
Ensure tasks are completed before giving rewards. Freedom is a reward, too.

At AngelKerr Dog Training and Pet Services, we know effective rewards are essential to successful training. Today, we’re focusing on part two of Reward it: unconditioned reinforcers.
Unconditioned reinforcers naturally motivate our dogs, such as food, water, going outside, and coming back inside. These daily opportunities are perfect for training with real-life rewards. For example, asking for a sit before going outside or focusing before coming in helps our dogs learn to listen in various contexts.
Remember, unintentional rewards can reinforce unwanted behaviors. Picking up a small dog that is barking and lunging can unintentionally reinforce that behavior by making them feel safe. Always be mindful of the behavior you’re reinforcing.
Stay tuned for the next video in our series, where we will discuss the final “it” - Release it. 🐾 #AngelKerrTraining #DogTraining #RewardBasedTraining #UnconditionedReinforcers #PositiveReinforcement #TorontoDogTrainer #GeorginaDogTraining #DogTrainingTips #ObedienceTraining #DogBehavior #DogTrainingLife#angelkerrdogtraining
At AngelKerr Dog Training and Pet Services, we know rewards are key to shaping our furry friends’ behavior. Today, we’re exploring Reward it, the third principle of training.
It’s not just about treats; rewards come in many forms. In part one, we’ll focus on conditioned reinforcers like a dog’s name or “good boy.” These need teaching through positive experiences. Real-life rewards, like couch time, are also vital but require proper behavior first.
Stay tuned for part two, where we’ll dive into unconditioned reinforcers. Understanding rewards is crucial for successful training and building bonds with our dogs. 🐾

Mastering the art of dog training involves understanding the fundamental principles that guide effective communication between humans and their canine companions. At AngelKerr Dog Training and Pet Services, we live by the philosophy of the 4 It’s of training, each playing a crucial role in shaping well-behaved and responsive dogs.
Let’s delve into the first principle: Cue it.
Cueing involves the use of both hand cues and verbal cues to convey commands and expectations to our dogs. This dual approach is essential because dogs respond to visual and auditory signals differently. By combining hand cues with verbal cues, we provide our furry friends with multiple points of reference, making it easier for them to understand and follow instructions.
Consistency is key when it comes to cueing. Dogs thrive on routine and repetition, so it’s important to use the same cues consistently in various situations. Whether it’s “sit,” “stay,” or “come,” our dogs learn to associate specific actions with specific cues, creating a reliable communication system between human and canine.
Moreover, hand cues and verbal cues complement each other, offering versatility in training. While verbal cues are handy in situations where distance or noise may affect communication, hand cues provide visual guidance, especially for dogs who rely more on body language cues.
By prioritizing cueing in our training methodology, we empower both dogs and their owners to communicate effectively, fostering mutual understanding and trust. Remember, clear communication is the cornerstone of successful dog training, and mastering the art of cueing sets the stage for a harmonious relationship between humans and their beloved pets. Let’s embark on this journey together, building stronger bonds through the power of communication. 🐾 #AngelKerrTraining #DogTraining #ClearCommunication

At AngelKerr Dog Training and Pet Services, we understand the importance of mealtime for our furry friends. It’s more than just filling their bellies; it’s an opportunity to enhance their training and well-being.
Every day, we prioritize training exercises with our dogs before meals, emphasizing structured feeding schedules. This ensures they earn their meals through engagement and obedience.
Starting this routine early is crucial, especially for young puppies learning impulse control and obedience skills.
Take Teddy, for example, a three-month-old pup showing exceptional progress in his training, even during mealtime.
Incorporating training into daily meal routines fosters obedience and strengthens the bond between humans and their furry companions.
