🐾 PLEASE READ CAREFULLY IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THE CHOW CHOW 🐾
The Chow Chow is a unique breed, but it is not for everyone. Here are some key points to consider before deciding to welcome one of these magnificent dogs into your home.
The Chow Chow’s Temperament
🐕 This is a strong-willed dog, often reserved with strangers.
🔍 Due to their limited peripheral vision, it’s best to approach them from the front.
🏠 Very calm, they can adapt to apartment living as long as they have a cool environment during the summer.
❄️ They love winter but do not tolerate heat well.
🛡️ Naturally territorial, they may have challenges with other dogs, especially those of the same s*x.
💖 While incredibly loyal, they enjoy exploring. A fenced yard is strongly recommended.
Physically Impressive
🐾 Powerful, medium-sized, and well-muscled with a square build.
🦁 The Chow Chow’s coat can be rough or smooth. In the rough variety, the head is framed with a beautiful mane, enhancing their majestic appearance.
✨ Truly a masterpiece of nature, radiating beauty, dignity, and natural grace.
My Vision as a Breeder at Three Rivers Chow 🏆
As a passionate and dedicated breeder, quality and health are at the heart of my priorities:
🔹 All dogs are registered with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), and puppies are sold with a non-breeding agreement.
🔹 Conformation to breed standards is essential for ensuring both the physical and mental health of each dog.
🔹 Rigorous health testing: PENNHIP, OFA, and close collaboration with specialized veterinarians ensure my lines are healthy.
🔹 Extensive socialization: I follow the Puppy Culture program so my puppies are well-prepared for life. They learn leash walking, city outings, crate training, and more to help them thrive.
When my puppies leave home at 9 ½ weeks, they are balanced, confident, and ready to face life with ease. 🐶
Health 🏥
Despite the extensive work on my breeding lines, it’s important to understand that the Chow Chow remains a breed with some health sensitivities. I strongly recommend health insurance or ensuring a solid budget for emergencies.
