He's the face of reckless urban sprawl and a threat to our environment. Mr. Sprawl schemes with corrupt politicians. He swaps walkable neighbourhoods for gridlocked highways and he is still trying to carve up the Greenbelt. He must be stopped. You can stop him. Take action now.

This week, we are in for an extreme cold spell with temperatures dropping as low as -23. Here are some cold weather safety tips for you and your pet!

❄️ If it's too cold for you, it's likely too cold for your pet. Keep cats indoors and have shorter outdoor bathroom breaks and walks for dogs. Put a snazzy coat on your dog to keep them warm when outside.
❄️ Put booties on your dog's feet to keep their paws warm and to protect them from ice-melting salt. You can use a pet-safe balm to heal cracked paws if they do come in contact with salt.
❄️ Be aware of antifreeze and certain ice melts as they are toxic to pets. Be sure to thoroughly clean up any antifreeze spills.
❄️ Keep your dog on leash. Dogs can lose their scent in the snow and could become lost. More dogs are lost during the winter than any other season, so make sure your dog always wears an ID tag or has a microchip.

Please keep your pets safe, warm, and happy this winter!

This weekend’s polar vortex is bringing dangerously cold weather to Ontario. The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society urges pet parents to take precautions to protect their furry friends:

Limit outdoor time – Keep walks short and watch for signs your pet is cold, like shivering or lifting paws. Consider a coat for puppies, seniors, or short-coated dogs.

Vehicles can be dangerous – Leave pets at home while running errands. Cars cool quickly, putting animals at risk of hypothermia or frostbite. Always knock on the hood before starting your car to avoid harming cats seeking warmth.

Beware of winter hazards – Wipe your pet’s paws after walks to remove salt or chemicals, and check for antifreeze spills, which can be fatal if ingested.

Know the signs of cold stress – If your pet is shivering, whining, or reluctant to keep walking, it’s time to get them indoors.

If you’re concerned about an animal left outside, call Provincial Animal Welfare Services at 1-833-9ANIMAL (1-833-926-4625) immediately. For emergencies, call 911.

Stay safe and warm this weekend! For more tips, visit ontariospca.ca

about Beata Szablowska

Animals have always been an integral part of Beata’s life. After working in the Cetacean Conservation field, and motivated by her experiences with dolphins and holistic professionals, as well as her (late) canine companion Keisha, Beata followed her heart and instincts and launched “Leaping Wolf Productions” in 1998 - communicating with animals professionally.

Over the past 20+ years, she has built a strong reputation and client base from all over the Globe. She has worked and taught from Toronto to Los Angeles to London.

75-80% of her animal communication work is long distance telephone consultation work and clients include people and their animal companions from all walks of life and locations.

The animals Beata has communicated with span all manner of species – from cats, dogs, and horses to pythons, to elephants, hawks & tarantula’s – the list goes ever on...
