Didja know you can make your dogs laugh? We do it alllll the time in our house/pack.

Dog laughter often sounds like a breathy harrr-harrr-harrr. If you have two or more dogs you’re most likely very familiar with this sound but it’s interesting when you try it for yourself.

Be prepared for puppies to come running to see what Mom/Dad is doing all the laughing about. Here’s one article about doggie laughter to get you started.

On the 6th day of Christmas…

Our adventure was to take the pups out to ‘favourite shops’ (Winners/Homesense) wearing their snowman suits.

We bought these adorable little outfits a few years ago at a Homesense store in Mount Pearl NL, and the staff made us promise to bring them back wearing the suits. So, it turned into a tradition.

These girls get a lot of attention out in the shops, but when they’re waddling along in their full body snow man suits, it’s a spectacle to behold. It takes us a Lonnnng time to walk around the store.

The six geese a-laying from the song symbolize the six days of creation, emphasizing God's power as the creator of the world.

The sixth day of Christmas is the Feast of St. Egwin of Worcester who died on this day circa 717 AD. He was the Bishop of Worcester as well as the founder of one of the greatest Benedictine monasteries of the Middle Ages in Evesham, England. He was known as a protector of orphans and widows.

A memory from last year when we were looking for our new forever home.

From our rental in New Brighton:
The girls have two self-serve ‘window looks’ in the house, one downstairs in the living room and another up in the office.

The upstairs ‘window look’ is by far the favourite as the girls have a Birds Eye view of the street and can see sooo much.

What they haven’t spotted yet, is the secret admirer in the very next house. She (or he) watches the girls quietly for hours, only breaking cover to go p*e or when she is called.

We have named her Roz from the ‘I’m watching you, Wazowski’ ( from Monsters Inc) claim to fame. I’m sure we will meet him/her when the weather gets warmer…but for now they window look and she watches them.

As part of our Christmas Eve tradition, each little one is allowed to open one present.

That’s exactly what happened in our little house on the prairie today, our little furry dolls opened one present each — a bunny ear from our favourite little pet store, Bone & Biscuit

It was downright adorable! We have included three little 3-second clips of each of the girls unwrapping/grabbing their prize in the comments.

The eldest pup, Dora immediately ran off with her treasure and took her time, biting off a piece at a time.

The middle child and smallest turned into a Tasmanian devil and gobbled it up so fast we thought her little body had been temporarily taken over by a wolf.

The youngest, found a very quiet corner and took the longest time, savouring every single bite — albeit her sisters quickly put much pressure on by standing farrr too close, in hopes of a steal.

The humans were busy in the kitchen whipping up all kinds of sweets and delights, their spirits bright and content, as snow fell gently in the pretty little neighborhood.

Remember, your pups CAN eat turkey — Despite rumours to the contrary it’s perfectly good and healthy for them. Although just a little if they’re not used to it as they can get an upset tummy from the unfamiliar food. Our girls get a mini version of our turkey dinner each and every time we have it ourselves and let me tell ya, they don’t leave a morsel in their bowls.

Today, we’re wishing all your furries (and you too) a very cozy Christmas.

Our little nest is all spiffed up outside and inside with balls, lights and baubles. A fine layer of snow is refreshed nightly in our yard, if only to show the bunny hops as the wood-lings come out to inspect the snowman family on our lawn.

The pantry and cupboards are lined with tempting savouries and sweets; impatiently awaiting not only the guy in the red suit, but also the scores of happy faces of our family and friends as they burst through the door.

The puppies are curled into tight balls, happily dozing along their human companions, content that we are nearby.

We, are feeling enriched and content. Our thoughts for you this holiday season, are nothing short of warm and cozy. We wish you the magic of wide eyed children, the comfort of a blazing fire and the warmth and love from many family and friends.
