Unfortunately, due to health issues our family has had to make the difficult decision to find us a new home. I’ll be honest, we come with issues but once I explain our story you will understand.

About 6 years ago after the massive forest fires in California we were found roaming wild on a mountain. They thought we had been there for about 3 months and I can tell you we saw all sorts of scary things that made us afraid of the world. Our current family worked hard for a long time to get us to trust and accept them but we are still scared of people we don’t know. As a matter of fact, it will be hard work to get us to let you touch us but we know there has to be a new family out there that has the tolerance and patience to work with us.

I weigh about 6.5lbs and Louise is a bit bigger at 7.0lbs. While we know to do our business outside when we are on a walk, we have never quite figured out how to let our family know we needed to go out. However, we are both p*e pad trained. Louise loves to go for walkies. Me, not so much as I would rather lay on my nice comfy bed. We tend to bark and shake when we are scared. Despite her fears, Louise is very protective of me.

Our dream home would be with a family that will help us with our issues. It would be best to be the only pets in the family. A fenced yard would be great, as we do like to chase each other. You should know that giving us treats just might make us warm up to you sooner.

We know there is a perfect new family out there for us who will give us the quiet space we need to thrive.

Today, we pause to remember. ❤️🐾

We honour the men, women, and animals who served—and those who continue to serve—with courage, loyalty, and love.

Dogs have stood beside humans in times of war and peace alike: comforting, guiding, protecting, and reminding us what devotion truly means.

On this Remembrance Day, ElderDog Canada remembers them all.

🌺 Lest we forget.

Today is Human–Animal Bond Day, a celebration of the powerful connection between people and their pets. ❤️🐾

At ElderDog, we see this bond every day — the quiet comfort of an old dog’s head on a lap, the joy of a daily walk, the sense of purpose and companionship that goes both ways.

The benefits of that bond begin early and last a lifetime:
🐶 Physical wellbeing
🦴 Learning responsibility
🐾 Reduced stress
❤️ Unconditional love
🕊️ Patience and empathy

Let’s celebrate the dogs who make our days brighter, our hearts bigger, and our lives better. Share a photo of your special bond below — we’d love to see your lifelong friends!

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month 🐶

Benefits of adopting a senior dog:

Calmer and less energetic: Senior pets are often less demanding than puppies, making them a great fit for many households.

Already trained: Many senior dogs are already house-trained and know basic commands, saving you the time and effort of training from scratch.

Predictable personality: You can be confident in a senior dog's temperament because their personality is already fully developed.

Saving a life: You are giving a loving home to an animal who is often overlooked.
