To current clients - we will be sticking to currently enrolled sessions!

Stay tuned - we'll announce when we're back to welcoming new dogs and owners! 🙂🐾

Thank you for understanding.

A few helpful tips to get your dog running back faster to you, every time you call.

Not sure how to start teaching recall? A few things to keep in mind:
• start in low distractions (inside) and gradually add distractions as they succeed
• always use a line of communication until their recall is 💯 reliable - start with a leash and move to a long line
• choose your recall command and use the same one every single time
• don't repeat your word! this just teaches your dog it's okay to ignore you
• try to avoid using recall for things your dog hates - recall should mean a reward, not the end of their fun in the beginning stages
• use a buddy system - if you have another dog who has perfect recall, team them up!

We offer individual private sessions to go over recall and how to teach it. Message us to learn more! 💌

Some days, we take a break from the structured life of training, and we just have fun.

Drive to the middle of nowhere on a logging trail, and take the world in - all of its smells, sights, and sounds.

Safe to say, we're both happiest when we're in the woods. 🌲⛺

Another awesome session done with working on Place in distractions, slip lead walking, and practicing going from high drive play to calm. 🧘🏻‍♀️

Teaching your dog that "off switch" is so important! Dogs are pets and they're a part of our lives - sometimes, we need them to be able to be calm and go to crate, their bed, or just lay down while we do other things. That ability to "turn off" isn't built in to most dogs - we need to train it and condition it. Like a well-built muscle, you need to exercise your dog's ability to calm down!

(Psssst... our private sessions are perfect for the little things like this 🙂 Available virtually for new clients, and in the Valley to existing clients)

Clicker Training Part 1

A brief, easy introduction to adding the clicker into your training. Pair with food to mean a reward to your dog!

I love to use the clicker when teaching in distractions. It can be used as a marker - similar to saying "good" - or as an interruptor with reactive dogs or pullers. So many functions and such a good tool.

Part 2 coming soon! 🙂

Roxy's family was nervous about leaving her at a boarding kennel, as when she was previously there she was stressed, anxious, and had a hard time settling and playing appropriately with the other dogs.

We worked on focus, implemented some home structure ideas, and calm training with Place, and Roxy is now a breeze to board.

Congratulations to Roxy, her owners, and their family for putting in the work! 🖤

Some helpful tips to get your dog running quicker to you!

Reliable recall is all about practice and reinforcement. Give them a paycheck and a reason to run back to you. I always say to my clients "Be the party to your dog!" 🎉

Not sure about virtual training and whether it works?

We've been there. We hear that!

But to be honest, the majority of dog training is training the human. Whether in person or virtually, trainers train the humans to work with their dog.

In private sessions with me, you'll be following along as I demonstrate with my dog in front of the screen. You'll be following along, and I'll give pointers and feedback in real time. It might feel awkward, but I promise, it works!

What we offer 👇🏼

Here's how we can help you and your dog. Offered with private virtual sessions with me, in addition to our full handbook packed with information and ongoing support (whenever, wherever) for the duration of your program. :)

We train with a fair, relationship-based balanced approach. We arm owners with the tools and knowledge to communicate better with their dogs, and support both ends of the leash as much as we can.

Private, individual sessions are also available if you just want to work on a few behaviors or need help with minor behavioral issues.

Welcome Wallace to our Private Lessons! 🖤

He previously completed my Beginner and Intermediate program when I was teaching at a local chain, and is now joining us to work on recall, loose leash walking, and focus in bigger and better distractions.

His mom has been a rockstar at keeping up with homework and expectations, and always gives it her all in lessons. I love this team!

Lockdown is ending, which means a lot of dog owners are heading back to work.

If you've been working from home, easing your dog back into a routine where you're gone for work can be tough. But fret not! Stuffed Kongs to the rescue. 🦸‍♀️

I'll always preach the benefits of alternative feeding and interactive feeding toys. Especially when it makes kennel time or time at home alone more enjoyable for our dogs. It works their brain and keeps them occupied so they can settle in a bit easier when you're gone. Plus, if you're short for time, it can also feed them their breakfast. A win-win!

I like to prep five days worth of puzzle toys ahead of time and freeze them for an added challenge! Meal prep for me, meal prep for my dog. 🦴

Let's talk movement and engagement.

I love this video of Harley and I for a few reasons, and use it to point out lots of work. The biggest thing is that it's a not-perfect display of the beginning of building engagement through some movement.

It isn't a perfect heel, it's not flashy, it's not a before and after, it isn't even a perfect loose leash, but it's the start of us figuring one another out and building better habits.

I offer her a treat reward occasionally, but I'm not using a food lure. I'm rewarding her for moving with me by continuing the movement. If she gets ahead, I stop and ask her to move back with me with spatial pressure (using my body). No corrections, no punishment, just guidance... I can't correct her for something she doesn't understand yet. The only rule is she can't pull. You see towards the end of even this small snippet, it's starting to click - she's not trying to drag me, and she's checking in quicker.

This is the first few sessions of a walk for me. Back and forth, give and take, just moving together. Pressure on, pressure off. Taking the goal of a far distance away and just having our goal be no tension.

Baby steps! ❤️🐾

ABOUT JESS 🙋🏻‍♀️

Hi! I'm Jess, the owner and trainer at Paws&Go Dogs. We started out as a dog walking and sitting business, and have recent made our way into the training world. We use a fair, relationship-based approach to training to help dogs and owners succeed.

I started my journey with dogs when I adopted my dog, Hunter - pictured below. He was a bit of a behavioral mess and a challenge that we happily took on - dog reactivity, wasn't house trained, jumped on everyone, hyper, barked out the window, pulled on leash - you name it, he did it. With the help of a wonderful trainer and mentor, we've come a long way. After seeing how she helped so many owners and dogs, I wanted to see how trainers worked their magic. I got my hands on any learning course I could, worked through seminars and workshops offered by some of the best in the business, read all the books, and volunteered at a local shelter to get hands-on experience with a variety of breeds, sizes, and temperaments.

I landed a job at a big box retailer teaching obedience classes and running private sessions. I loved it, but I loved it so much that I wanted to pivot my *own* business to focus on training. Here we are today! 🙌🏼

In my spare time, you can find me hiking with Hunter, eating good food, tending to my indoor jungle of plants, fostering kittens and other animals, reading, and watching The Office over and over again.

I'm thankful for everyone that's following along with our business growth. Feel free to Like, Share, and Comment - every visible post helps me reach more people and dogs. ❤️

Hi all! 👋🏼

Jess here, owner and trainer at Paws&Go. Due to a unfortunate hacking, we've lost access to our personal page and Business Page that we've spent the last 3 years building and branding. This left us with an opportunity to do a little re-vamp and re-brand of our training and walking services, so here we are!

Welcome to Paws&Go 2.0. I'm so glad you're here! Feel free to Like, Share, and follow along as we help dogs and owners live their best lives.

We also have our Instagram at

About me coming soon! Stay tuned!

- Jess ❤️
