As some of you know, I am a Certified Equi-tape Practitioner as well as a Certified Equine Massage Therapist!
I completed my Certification with Equi-tape.inc a few years ago and I am happy to say that I am now an affiliate for Equi-tape! I will be working to sell their products and services and receive a commission for each successful sale!

Show season is if full swing!!

I have noticed over the last few years, that horse owners tend to have there equine bodyworkers out more frequently during the spring when everyone is preparing for show season (or their horses had spring fever) Which makes sense, as your horse is building muscle.

I would like to remind everyone that horse are ATHLETES. Just like humans, horses need continuous care for their muscles and joints to perform their best. So having a massage therapist or other body worker out between shows is extremely beneficial. Not only will your horse have his/her muscle pain addressed. But you horse will be able to relax and have a spa session to decompress and take a breather.

So I urge you to consider have your horse treated between shows. They do so much for us. Lets help them feel their best, so they can perform their best.

I am very happy to announce that I have successfully completed levels 1 and 2 introduction to saddle fitting and pathways to saddle fitting!!!
This does not qualify me as a certified saddle fitter.
I can use my new knowledge to perform assessments and map the horses back, and advise clients on the proper size for the horse and the rider.

Helping this girl build up some topline with an equi-tape application for core activation!

By taping the external abdominal obliques with the proper amount of stretch and recoil. We encourage the horse to lift its belly, therefore using his/her back properly. This application is effective while out grazing and when being ridden!

About Heather

Heather Black is a certified Equine Massage Therapist proudly serving the Kawartha lakes, Haliburton county and Minden Hills. She recently received her CEMT credentials through The School of Equine Massage and Rehabilitation Therapies in October of 2019.

From the age of 8 years old, Heather has shown a passion and deep love for horses and their well-being. She has owned and cared for horses for over 15 years and currently cares for her forever horse and best “furry” friend Buddy. Buddy has taught her the importance of a gentle, nurturing, and healing touch and the benefits that massage therapy can have on a horses immediate needs, as well as their overall well-being.

HB equine massage therapy is committed to putting the needs of the horse as the first priority. Each session is discussed with the owner to ensure that the horses needs are understood and being met. Each massage session is unique and tailored to the horses individual needs, and can change from session to session.

New clients will, together with the massage therapist, complete an intake and evaluation to discuss the specific goals and target areas of each horse, including an overall health assessment.
