This page is meant for sharing information to better assist in the rescue of these animals. All members of this committee are volunteers that share a common admiration for the benefit and welfare of Baker Lake animals. With the help of southern rescues, we have currently rescued 100+ dogs since October 2019. This has included fostering animals within the community, organizing flights, and shipping
south for much needed vet care and adoption to loving homes nation
Our current efforts are focused on dog 12 weeks and younger. Any litters needing a home can be sent south to rescue at no charge to you until funds last. We can also help organize the spay of your female dog to cut down on the over population issue that we are facing. We have not, nor will we, take dogs for rescue without proper permission from owners. This effort requires help from members of the community. If you would like to get involved and help here is how:
- Offering a temporary warm and loving home to an animal in need. Fostering these animals can better help us protect them while waiting for flight options and rescue intake in the south.
- If you’re travelling to Winnipeg please let us know. Allowing us to add a kennel to your flight as excess baggage can help us save money to ensure that we can help as many animals in need as possible. This is of no cost to you nor do you have anything to do with the traveling pet. Unfortunately cargo costs are extremely high even for the smallest dogs.
- If you’re returning to Baker Lake from Winnipeg please let us know. We can have recycled kennels sent up via the rescue in the south as excess baggage. Recycling kennels ensures that we always have kennels of various sizes on hand to accommodate animal rescues. Our hope for the future:
- Work towards annual vet visits to ensure that proper care can be provided. This would include vaccinations to protect from rabies and parvo, and spay/neuter procedures to control the overwhelming dog population.
