Is it safe to walk your pup in a heat warning? ‼️
Today is a hot one and we want to keep our pets safe, so here are a few tips to test if it’s safe to walk your dog 🐕 and how to keep them cool:
🐾 Protect those paws by putting your wrist or the back of your hand to the ground and hold for 7 seconds if it’s too hot for you - it’s too hot for pup!
💦 Carry water and give water breaks often.
☀️ Walk in the shade and on the grass as much as possible.
⏰ Walk them at cooler times of day, like early morning or later evening!
🧊 Make them ice treats: blended banana and strawberry are a favourite for my pup 🍓 there are tons of tasty recipes to try!
🚨 So stay safe out there friends!!

Hide and seek the poop 💩 tall grasses add more difficulty but no matter where your pet decides to do their business you still must scoop the poop and dispose of it properly! 🚮
🦠 Dog poop is a source of parasites, bacteria, and viruses. These include E. coli, Giardia, Salmonella, roundworm, and tapeworms. 🪱
We don’t want this to spread to our watershed, our children or other wildlife and pets so please scoop the poop. Actually, while you’re there why not scoop 2 pieces of pet waste and litter you find out on your walk✌️ 🚮

Today we are talking about how I like to scoop 2 on my walks… so I’m not contributing more waste I like to scoop whatever litter and pet waste I find with the bag I’ve already used for my own pups poop 💩
We use @petnpetofficial bags! 🚮 They have unscented and lavender scented options.
We have and use both!
Today I have unscented for my daily walk, and use lavender for longer hikes.

Inspiration to scoop 2! 🚮 🌊 Not so fun fact: the average dog poop contains 3 billion fecal coliform bacteria. 🦠 These diseases are harmful to humans, diseases such as campylobacteriosis, salmonellosis and toxocariasis can be spread…. Many parasites require days or weeks to reach their “infective stage”, so the dog waste 💩 becomes more and more hazardous to your health the longer it sits on a lawn, or gets washed into our watershed.

While Fireworks and sparklers are beautiful… they’re not great for our environment… 🎆 💥 OR the wildlife and our pets!
Fireworks pollute water supply systems, leaving the water full of the same harmful chemicals that is fluttering around through the air. When rivers, lakes, and oceans absorb a large amount of heavy metals and toxins from fireworks… the pollution harms aquatic life and disrupts the balance of these ecosystems. 🐟
Fireworks also cause our pets stress… so why do we continue to celebrate with fireworks and sparklers? 😢
