🌞 As much as we enjoy the sun, the heat wave is hitting hard! 🫠

🐾 Remember to stay hydrated, avoid peak hours, stay in the shade, and prep or buy some cooling treats to keep your pup entertained at home.

Here are a few ideas:

🍉 Water-rich foods like cucumbers, watermelon, strawberries, and pineapple. Our pups go nuts for watermelons, such a treat!

🍦 Frozen yogurt: mix yogurt with berries and freeze. Yummy! We love using goat yogurt, blueberries, and beef liver treats crumbles!

🧊 Frozen toys filled with your pup's favorite goodies for long-lasting fun. Our favorite fillers are cottage cheese, banana, and peanut butter, topped with a generous piece of beef liver treat!

💧 And, of course, ensure they have lots of cold, fresh water.

🛒 **Important Update: Temporary Closure** 🐾

Hey, WOW fam! We wanted to give you a quick update on what's happening behind the scenes at Wow Treats and More. 🏡

We're excited to share that we're in the process of moving to our new home and setting up ounew WOW Treats headquarters! 🏠🌟
(Huge shoutout to the simply the best 😉 )

As we settle into our new space, we'll be taking a short break. Our online store will be temporarily "closed" until at least September 15th (or perhaps a little bit longer).

But don't worry, we'll be back soon, and you'll find us back at your favorite farmers' markets starting this weekend! 🛍️🐕

🎉 It's a boy!!🐾 Drumroll, please... Meet the latest addition to the WOW family ☀️ This pup brings in a ton of sunshine vibes and a big splash of crazy puppy energy (he's just 6 months old! Look at those paws! ). He's already winning hearts – Uma's got a soft spot for him 💜🐾 And Ice is taking her time to warm up, but we're pretty positive it won't be long 🐈

Massive shoutout to for bringing this ball of happiness into our lives! 🙏 thank you, Anna, Zara, Imogen, and the rest of the volunteers team ❤️

Now, onto the good stuff... NAME HUNT! 🎊 Our boy's got a great name – Akuma aka Kuma for short – but it does sound too much similar to Uma, and that is confusing everyone around, including the dogs themselves, lol

This sparked quite the discussion within our family and friends in recent weeks. So, we're now turning to YOU, our fantastic community, for suggestions! If you have any name ideas you'd love to share, we're all ears! 🐶

- Hiking, jogging, and walking with our dog, Uma. Her recovery is going so well, and we're thrilled to be introducing more activities back into her routine.🐶🐾
- Shopping at the Farmers Markets. As vendors ourselves, we always make sure to grab our favorite local products to enjoy throughout the week.🍅🫐🥧🍓
- Cooking dinner together, watching movies, going for a walk, and simply enjoying some quality time as a couple. Balancing full-time jobs and running a business can be challenging, so it's essential to carve out moments just for us.💞
- Hanging out with our friends. We're incredibly grateful for the wonderful people in our lives, and spending time with them brings us so much joy.🫶🙏
- Being outside and soaking up the sunshine. There's something revitalizing about embracing nature and enjoying the great outdoors.🏕🌞🌊

A bit of ❄️ ❄️❄️ to your feed on this HOT day 🫠 and some food for thoughts...

HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH? 🤔

At Wow Treats and More, we believe that MODERATION and ROTATION are the key.

👉While our dehydrated beef liver treats are low in calories and high in nutrients, it's important to remember that they should be given in MODERATION, just like any other treat.

👉Remember, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. So keep an eye on how many treats you're giving, and ROTATE different types of treats to keep things interesting and ensure your pup gets a variety of nutrients 😉

👉As a general rule, treats should represent no more than 10% of your dog's daily diet. Every dog is unique, so be sure to consider their age, size, activity level, any specific health conditions,etc. And, of course, if you have any questions, be sure to consult with your vet.

😋Here are some of Uma's faves:
- Beef liver treats (DUH!)
- Freeze-dried tripe treats (smelly and delicious!)
- Freeze-dried goat cheese treats (yum!)
- Any cheese in any shape and form, haha
- Blueberries, raspeberries, apples, and watermelon
- Carrots and brussel sprouts
- Fermented cabbage and pickles
- Sardines
- Beef/Lamb wet foods/pates (perfect for those lick mats snack breaks!)

Chat with your local pet stores, and they will consult you on the best clean ingredients treats for your pups! You also, for sure, already have a variety of healthy snacks in your own kitchen that you can share with your dog 🍎🍌🥕🥦🥚🍠🧀🫐🥩

And remember - ROTATION & MODERATION are the key 😉

As small business owners, we wear many hats. From marketing to accounting to customer service, we do it all! And sometimes, that means working from unexpected places, like our favorite local cafe ☕️🫶

We may not have a huge team (just the two of us) or a fancy office, but we make up for it with passion, hard work, and dedication. We pour our hearts and souls into our business, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

This week was long and sleepless...

Last week, Uma had her second TPLO surgery, this time on her right leg. She had already undergone a similar surgery on her left leg last August. Unfortunately, statistic shows that 60% of dogs tear the other knee within two years of the first injury, and in Uma's case, it was less than a year before she needed surgery on her other leg.

It's been a tough time, but we're so grateful for the love and support we've received from our friends and family. We want to extend a big thank you to Pemberton and Westview vet clinics for all their hard work and support. You guys are amazing 🫶

Uma has been a trooper through all the medications and sleepless nights so far. The first 12 weeks following the surgery are the most critical, and full recovery can take up to 6 months. She is not allowed to walk upstairs or jump, so her dad is carrying her up and down the stairs multiple times a day, lifting her up onto the couch and back to her bed.

Our walks are short and just for important business, and she will be wearing her double cone for another week until her stitches are removed. The number one complication after TPLO surgery is infection, so as much as she hates wearing the cone, it's there to protect.

We can't wait for summer so this little monkey can have some more fun outside. We know she's eager to get back to her playful self and build those muscles back up 💪 🙈

One of the main reasons is, of course, the rising cost of ingredients. As dog lovers, we are committed to providing the highest quality products to our customers. We use grass-fed premium-quality beef liver and organic vegetables. Our product cost has significantly increased over the last years. And on top of that - the cost of packaging, transportation and shipping...

ONE THING.

We often get asked why we are not adding other products to our treats lineup. And the answer is quite simple... we do one thing, and we do it dam good. There are many great brands out there that offer different types of protein or different types of treats. You can choose from dehydrated and freeze-dried to cookies and biscuits. And this is the magic of it!

We encourage you to try new things, rotate, and mix things up for your pup! We also love seeing you cooking your own treats at home - so fun and rewarding!

DOGS just want to have FUN!
As responsible pawrents, it's important to keep our pups both mentally and physically stimulated. Luckily, there are many fun ways to do so! From interactive toys and lick mats to "find me" games and puzzles. Of course, it does not have to be all about the food!
Sniffing around, exploring new trails, playing with toys, visiting new places, swimming and playing with water, running, learning a new trick, working with scents, agility, bike rides, playdates, looking at the window, visiting friends and family, digging holes, playing in the sand (or snow!)...You name it!
