Find out the truth behind this Mysterious Creature by reading below ⬇️ The Solifugid, also known as the Camel Spider is a type of arachnid that is native to desert habitats all over the world except for Australia and Antarctica. This amazing creature is even found in some parts of Canada! So whats the big secret?! While this arachnid may look dangerous, it is almost completely harmless! In fact, its main defence if threatened is to rear up and let out a squeaking noise that sounds very similar to a dog toy! Don’t tell it I said that though, you might crush its ego! FUN FACT: Solifugids are voracious hunters and have been observed eating all kinds of different prey items. This includes many different insects, scorpions, centipedes, other solifugids, lizards, and even birds! Almost anything that crosses its path can be considered potential food. However… for some reason they seem to kill ants but never eat them. Why? Nobody knows for sure, but it’s theorized that ants might try and take over their burrows causing the Solifugid to act in self defense. #exoticskeeper #expticpetsofinstagram #arachnidstudios #arachnidlover #invertebratesrule #camelspider #minibeasts #desertwildlife
Six eyed sand spider (Sicarius thomisoides) sling hunting its prey! In this case, its feeding on a firebrat which is a great live food source for many arachnid slings including these amazing sand spiders! #tarantulas #truespiders #sicarius #sicariusthomisoides #sixeyedsandspider #arachnids #entomology #biodiversity
FUN FACT! Latrodectus variolus (northern black widow) slings emerge from their egg sac and live as a group for the first couple molts. When they are ready to disperse, they climb up and spin a web behind them that acts as a kite, and jump into the wind getting carried a great distance to a new spot to grow up! #petspider #petspiders #BlackWidow #latrodectus #latrodectusvariolus #truespiders #arachnids #spiders
The next generation of pest control is emerging! These baby Pisaurina mira (Nursery Web Spiders) are taking their first steps in the world! Before long they will be beautiful large adults! This species varies in colour/patterns making them a really fun species to raise! #arachnids #nurserywebspider #truespiders #spiders #entomology #nature #biodiversity

Why is it white? Continue reading to find out! The insect featured in this video is a species of cockroach known as the Discoid roach (blaberus discoidalis) now, this has nothing to do with why its white. So why is it white? As cockroaches grow, they shed their exoskeleton, known as a process called Molting. During this process, their exoskeleton loosens and they develop a new one underneath that is soft and flexible, once that is ready, they split their outer shell and walk out of it. when they emerge they are a white colouration, this is because their exoskeleton lacks pigmentation, and their blood is white because it lacks hemoglobin, so the combination of both create a white appearance! After a couple of hours, their outer shell will slowly start to darken and harden before returning to their normal appearance. #roaches #invertebrates #snagbug #discoidroach #biodiversity #entomology #nature
Have you ever wanted a pet dinosaur but your parents told you that you werent allowed? Or maybe you want to own a living fossil that has been around for over 300 million years?
Well, whatever the case is, Triops will solve all your problems! Being a type of vernal pool crustacean, these can be considered instant pets because as soon as you put the eggs in the water they begin hatching in 24 hours!
Triops are a very easy, low maintenance pet, that takes as little as 2 weeks to become full grown depending on the species, and begins to reproduce shortly after, before ending their life at around 3 months old.
Although they are short lived, they make really great pets and are perfect for raising for fun or with your kids to help educate them about the life cycle of these unique creatures!

Finally a new batch of triops starting to hatch! I used to love working with these, unfortunately I took a pause for quite sometime but am working on starting it up again!
These make really awesome fast growing, harmless pets that are great for raising with kids or just for the sheer enjoyment of their behaviours! I cant wait until these grow up so I can take some better videos. They are only a few hours old! But will reach max size in just over 2 weeks!

Latrodectus variolus, or the northern black widow is a species of venomous spider native to North America, including Canada! Though they have a significant venom, they are unlikely to bite and are actually very docile creatures. They dont really like people so in the wild they tend to be hidden away outside of city limits. #arachnids #blackwidows #blackwidowspider #Latrodectus #latrodectusvariolus #truespiders

Latrodectus Variolus (northern black widow) catching prey
Adult female black widow catching its dinner. Although this clip wasnt of the initial catch, it is still quite interesting to watch. Latrodectus have an interesting hunting technique where they will chase down the prey in their webs and once close enough spin around backwards and shoot the webbing to try and hold their meal down while they get ready to eat it.
Although superworms arent a great food source for spiders, they are ok to feed as a treat.
