Cheerio update
Update Cheerio ! Cheerio is having the best life with her new furever family and little herd.
Thank you, FURever family for giving cheerio a second chance out of FURever home 🏡
Wilmer
Wilmer at his fosters home. They have really bonded to the point he is not even timid around her anymore and is super happy to see her. Wilmer is doing great with his foster but he still needs to go to the vet tomorrow to hopefully figure out what’s making this little guy unwell.
Hopefully it’s easily treatable and he can resume being a healthy sweet GuineaPig
Update !!
We have received this sweet update from Ozzy and Bobby FURever family. Look how happy they are during floor time! The joy is so evident. We just love to see Guinea Pig zoomies and Popcorns!!
Thank you FURever family for giving these two boys another chance at a happy life.
Here is what the family said:
“
I wanted to give you an update on Bobby and Ozzie.
They’re both doing really great! I’ve renamed them Panda and Peanut. Panda got used to me right away while Peanut took some time to get comfortable. Peanut has copied Panda’s mannerisms of climbing up on the cage when he wants treats. He also seems to enjoy pets but only when he decides he wants to be touched. Whenever I take them out of the cage he’s always zooming around doing popcorns until he tuckers himself out. I’ve attached some videos of the zoomies.
Overall I think they are happy guinea pigs! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to adopt them”
Dumped Guinea Pigs at GPRO
To the humans who dropped off these two Guinea Pigs without an appointment and when told they need an appointment they (literally ) ran away and left them there.
Shame on you for doing this to these two boys. We have a surrender process for a reason.
Firstly we set up a drop off date when we have staff in so they can be ready for them with a clean bed and during the same week as RVT tech visit so they get seen right away by a medical professional.
They also get ivermectin, a nail trim and get all their information logged in to be attached to their clipboard.
We were not able to do any of that since this was an unscheduled dumping. The RVT is coming NEXT week and staff was not in. We had to wait till staff came in so they can get a bed ready and properly settled.
They were dumped at the shop on top of the rescue.
Not to mention they took the place of other Guinea pigs on the waiting list waiting to be surrendered.
To the humans who have dumped them, what are their names? How old are they? What is their history? We don’t have any information. If you could please send us this information so we can be better informed on how to take care of them we will appreciate it.
We know who it is since we have them on camera. We just ask that they provide us with their information.
At least do this much for your Guinea Pigs.

GPRO Easy Cage set up
At GPRO we firstly add a large fleece liner (lined with U-Haul padding) and then add a few lap pads on top which are also lined with U-Haul padding or absorbing material. Everyday we change the lap pads, dust, vacuum and wash in the laundry and replace them with fresh pads leaving the bottom liner dry. Then once a week we change the whole cage with bottom liner and wipe down the whole enclosure with watered down vinaigre and soap. This ensures that the Guinea Pigs enclosure are always clean and sanitary. This method made our life easy when cleaning the cages and has kept our rescue scent free.
