Moving day is here!

I am doing one very last groom this morning at my current salon before packing up, moving to town and tackling a Standard poodle in the new space with Callie this afternoon!

I have decided to open up my client list now that there are 2 groomers in one location which makes things easier for scheduling and helping with more difficult grooms!

As of July 1st I will be accepting new clients! I am still only part-time grooming so you may be booked in with Callie 😁

This weeks feature dog is Cosmo, because he drug up a dead deer from the highway and has spent the last week proudly dragging it around the farm… so you can imagine how he smells.

Facts about Cosmo:

-He is a purpose bred cross between a Belgian Malinios and a German Shepherd.
-He is an amazing family dog and he loves his people, especially the little ones.
-He is genetically predisposed to be protective and was bred that way since he was part of a litter that was police-requested. They breed the GSD with the malinios to make the dog more compact and extra agile. A Belgian malinios is commonly referred to as “a German shepherd on crack” and I totally get it now.
-Since he is incredibly intimidating, you will never see him when you bring your fur babies for their groom. He does love all animals including cats so rest assured that your animals are safe if he should ever weasel his way to the grooming area (which won’t happen anyway) 🤣

Here is Cosmo, right after his bath and during the drying process (vid in comments). He is currently blowing his winter coat.
He got the full groom today- bath, blow dry, ear cleaning, tooth brushing and nail 💅

As usual, I forgot to take pictures but yesterday, Callie from How Fetching grooming in Kelvington joined me to groom this beautiful standard poodle named Annie, and managed to get a “before” picture of Annie half dry after her bath. And then as I was walking Annie out, I quickly grabbed a quick “after picture”. I was going to take her outside in the natural light and take some model style pictures but I got side tracked 🤣

Anyway, Annie was very fun to groom and it was great to meet a fellow groomer! If anyone is looking for a groomer close by, let me know and I can get you in touch with her! I’m still currently full for clients 🐕

Here is the pictures we managed to snap.. Annie’s owner wanted a full shave down, no fancy poodle cut, no poodle top-hat. Annie is a show dog turned farm dog 🐶 she she needs a shave to keep clean while running through the barn!

Anyone looking to buy some new nail clippers for dogs, read this post!

After seeing so many recommendations in a grooming group I’m in, I decided to finally order some RED handled millers forge clippers.
They just came in and even though I just did my shepherds nails, I wanted to see how good these things really are.

The answer is Ah-mazing!

Smooth like butter, no pressure on the nails, no cracking under said pressure, and can take off literally the tiniest slices imaginable without any splintering. Definite game changers for those dogs who hate dremmels but want closer cuts to the quick!

I am going to start featuring some dogs in an attempt to take more pictures and show more of my work!

This weeks feature is Gizmo (he was here today and sparked this idea)

Gizmo is a French bulldog who has stolen my oldest daughters heart. Gizmo is the reason you will see Brynn fully decked out in frenchie pants, frenchie shirts with a frenchie stuffed animal.

Gizmo has been coming here every 4-6 weeks since we opened, he is very well behaved and is the only dog I’ve met who seems to enjoy getting his nails dremmeled.. the back ones anyway. Don’t let his short hair fool you, this cute little guy sheds more than a German shepherd. I’m constantly amazed at how much hair can come off such a small dog!

I just love this little guy and his cute snorting 🥰 Gizmo is such a pleasure to have here

The end of this week marks our very first anniversary!

Although my heart lies in behaviour and training, it’s become truly a joy to groom. When I started, I was only interested in grooming medium-extra large dogs but a few of you asked that I groom your smaller fur babies. I was hesitant but let me tell you, some of those little guys have become my absolute favorite!
Thank you so much to all the clients that stuck with me through my learning phase and kept coming as I went from nervous to much more confident in my grooming skills. Many of the things I was not so good at in the beginning have become second nature to me now.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me with your pets and I look forward to keep grooming them in the many years to come!

**I am still full and not accepting new clients but if you have a dog on file from the last year, you and any other pets you acquire are automatically current clients :)

Happy Sunday!

As usual, we’ve had soooo many amazing dogs lately and I have not taken a single photo 📸

We’ve had to reschedule this whole week due to c19, and can’t wait to get back at ‘er.

Booking into second week of March 😁 trying really hard to keep those wait times lower, but please remember to book early as we are usually atleast a month in advance!

Good day, everyone!

How’s everyone doing? Hope everyone is safe, healthy and happy!

As things roll through *cough omicron cough* we have had to reschedule this week due to it closing down our daycare.

As a reminder, I am currently not accepting new clients on account of already having over 85 dogs on file and only being a part-time groomer 🦮
I will let everyone know when spots become available!

HAPPY NEW YEARS!

We hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday!

Now that December is over, I will be calculating up the grooms for the month and then taking 50% out for a donation to a Saskatchewan rescue! I will make a separate post with that 😁

****Important news heading into 2022 is that we are unfortunately full for clients as of right now****

With a growing list of regulars and the inability to add any more days (I’m still having to run my kids to and from playschool, dance, skating, appointments, take care of the farm/books, cook everyday for the farm men, and we are just starting a massive renovation 😱) it’s just not possible to add more clients to the roster right now!

If you are currently on file with us or already have a booked appointment, you are considered a current client!

I will post any openings if any become available!

Thank you to every single person who has supported this hobby of mine in the last year! You all have fantastic dogs and it’s truly a pleasure to get to spend time with them 😁

I actually managed to get a picture of 4 of the dogs I groomed today! If only I could remember to take pictures more often 📸

The Frenchie (Gizmo) was freshly groomed in this pic, while the other 3 (Dixie, Molly and Ben) where waiting for their turns!

Merry Christmas, everyone! We hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season. We are booking into mid-January as of right now ☺️

Has anyone done a DNA test on their dog?

We recently did an Embark dna test on our 12.5yr old mixed breed dog, Harley.

He came back with 4 breeds in him. We were told he was a Black Labrador/Rottweiler cross (which he does have those 2 breeds in him)

Any guesses on the other 2 breeds?

It’s officially the jolliest month of the year!

We are currently fully booked for December! If you want to be on the December cancellation list, just send a message to the page here on fb, or TEXT 306-338-7245. **if there are enough on the list, I will open up an extra day to fit everyone in!

During the month of December, I will be donating back 50% of all grooms to Saskatchewan rescues!

Also, please consider contacting local rescues and ask about fostering over the holidays. If you have room in your heart and space in your house and a little bit of time on your hands this season, then what a great gift to give lonely shelter dog ♥️ (This is actually how I ended up with my dog Duke many, many years ago. He was a great companion and I miss him so much)
If you are unable to foster, most rescues appreciate any donations including food and toys!

Typical me forgetting to take pictures but we have been super busy here!

In the last couple of weeks we have had the pleasure of working with a couple new clients as well as many regulars! We’ve had a couple golden retrievers, a yorkie, quite a few Rottweiler mixes, a corgi x, a massive German shepherd, a cute little Scottish terrier and the most gentle boxer named Vern. Also today, we had the most calm, sweet 7yr old rottie mix who has her very first bath and did absolutely amazing. She also brought us the cutest ornament for our Christmas tree 🎄 I love it so much! Thank you again!

Coming up on the books before the holidays we have some cute mixes, a couple Great Pyrenees’, an Australian shepherd, black lab, maltipoo, and our friend jack, the rottie.

We hope everyone is making the most of the pre-Christmas season and staying happy & healthy 😊

GROUNDBREAKING NEWS: The Alberta Court of Appeal officially recognizes that animals are sentient beings AND that animal cruelty is a crime of violence!🎉

This ground-breaking decision is proof that times are changing. Animals are highly vulnerable to mistreatment and exploitation and are incapable of communicating their suffering, and sentences for animal cruelty must reflect these realities.

The court held that “Animals [are] sentient beings that experience pain and suffering [and] must be treated as living victims [….] “animal cruelty is a crime of violence”

Yesterday, the Alberta court of appeal recognized:

- that it is the animal’s experience of the violence, pain and suffering during and after the event that is relevant.
- that not every contravention of the animal cruelty provisions will be a crime of physical violence; crimes of neglect can be equally serious
- the Violence Link - that the abuse or killing of an animal can be motivated by a desire to assert control over or exact revenge on another person

Humane Canada™ provides essential education to prosecutors across Canada to raise awareness, encourage collaboration and highlight legislative and policy amendments that bring about lasting and systemic change. We have been following and sharing insights about the R v Chen case closely.

We’ve been busy busy here at the grooming shop lately.. like usual, I forget to take pictures 😬

However, I did have a few minutes of play time with this adorable puppy who came for his very first puppy groom today and managed to snap a picture. This gentle (going to be) giant is just 4 months old and did so well with his groom!

Any guesses on the breed?

It’s been a beautiful fall so far and we’ve enjoyed seeing our regulars throughout the harvest season! We are so excited to get back in the full swing of grooming again 😁

I will be contacting everyone on the list that is awaiting a groom within the next week as I finalize my schedule for October/November!

If you are interested in a groom, de-shed, or just a good old fashioned spa day for your pal, you can message the page, email at [email protected] or send a text to 306-338-7245 🐕

Super important!

A majority of dog bites in children are because children aren’t taught how to properly interact with dogs, especially when they do not have experience with dogs in their home life.

The absolute best way to prevent dog bites are to teach children how to properly greet, pet and show affection to dogs.

The same can be said for children who have dogs in their home and have a very tolerant dog. Both of my dogs are very patient with my kids and are conditioned to not react from the occasional ear pull or hug. However, if you have a patient dog like this, it is important to teach your children that not all dogs are as tolerant! Make sure they are supervised, know to ask to pet any unfamiliar dog, and make sure they know when to leave a dog alone 🐕

We all love dogs and we all love children. Let’s keep them safe together ♥️
