You can put it in "Your Will" to have your pacemaker donated to a dog in need after you pass. Pacemakers cannot be donated to another human, but they can be donated to dogs with cardiac issues who would depend on it to stay alive.

You can have the pacemaker brought to a vet of your choice. So many of those get thrown away and dogs die because people don't know they can do this. It even saves the dog's owner the cost of the actual pacemaker which sometimes means the difference in being able to afford lifesaving treatment or not.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (2018) in the United States, 57% of households owned a pet with 66% owning more than one companion animal. Of individuals surveyed, approximately 80% consider their pets to be family members, 17% consider them to be a companion, and only 3% consider them property.

Seeing the statistics above, we realize that most of us see and treat our pets as a family member. Caring for a pet has magical powers for human health and wellbeing and the grief we feel when our pets die is natural and normal. It is beneficial to lean into your pain, instead of ignoring it. Consider contemplating on this powerful quote 💚
