❌ ON-LEAD AREAS! ❌

I believe that most people have good intentions when letting their dog off lead in a designated on-lead area. In my experience, the general consensus of why people choose to let their dog off lead isn’t because they are intentionally trying to ruin somebody else’s walk, but rather, they believe that “dogs should be able to run and be free”, or that “people who hate dogs shouldn’t be allowed to tell me what to do”.

Let’s talk about who relies on on-lead areas:

- Dogs who are recovering from illnesses, surgeries or going through other rehabilitations

- Dogs who are fragile, elderly, or easily hurt (even by excitable puppies who just want to say hi)

- Owners of reactive dogs (or even simply dogs who do not want to say hi to other dogs)

- Owners of fearful and nervous dogs and puppies

- Dogs who are in training

- People who are nervous of other dogs

- Native animals

When your off lead dog rushes up to a nervous puppy who’s family specifically travelled to an on-lead area to help build their puppies confidence and create a safe environment for their puppy, you ruin their day, and their puppy goes home nervous and worried.

When your off lead dog runs up and jumps all over an on-lead dog who is post surgery, doing their daily 10 minute recovery walk, that dog goes home feeling uncomfortable and sore (even if that dog was friendly and wanted to say hi!).

No matter how great your dog’s recall is, having them on-lead will help make everybody feel safe. There are plenty of areas that are designated for off leash play. There are plenty of owners who rely on on-lead areas to keep their dogs safe. When you choose to have your dog off lead in these areas, it means that these owners have nowhere else safe to take their four legged friends, which often means these dogs miss out.

So please, the next time you think about unclipping the lead, think about who might be at home missing out because “on-lead areas” aren’t safe for dogs and owners who need them!

… When you're down and troubled
And you need helping paws
And nothing, oh, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of us
And soon we will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night
… You just call out our names
And, you know, wherever we are
We'll come running, oh, yeah, baby
To see you again
… Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you've got to do is call
And We'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah
You've got friends
… If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together
And call our names out loud now
Soon we'll be scratching upon your door
… You just call out our names
And, you know, wherever we are
We'll come running, oh, yes, we will
To see you again
… Winter, spring, summer or fall, yeah
All you've got to do is call
And we'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah
… And ain't it good to know that you've got friends
When people can be so cold?
They'll hurt you and desert you
Well, they'll take your soul if you let them
Oh, yeah, but don't you let them
… You just call out our names
And, you know, wherever we are
We'll come running
To see you again
… Oh, baby don't you know 'bout
Winter, spring, summer or fall
Hey, now, all you've got to do is call
Lord, We'll be there, yes, we will
… You've got friends
You've got friends, yeah
Ain't it good to know you've got best friends
Ain't it good to know you've got best friends
Oh, yeah, yeah, you've got best friends......

If I passed before my dog(s), I would ask for permission to return just to say goodbye; to let my dog(s) know that God called me, and that I didn't abandon them.

I would tell them I want them to take care of themself (and each other), and that in the meantime, I'll be waiting for them.

I would give them one last kiss, one last hug, and tell them that they are the best things that have ever happened to me. That I have loved each with all my heart & I've loved them the most.

If I pass first, give me permission to tell them that. And especially to tell them that when we finally meet again, it will be forever.

My dear human, I see you crying, because it's time for me to leave.
Please don't cry.
I want to explain some things to you.
You're sad that I'm gone, but I'm glad to have met you.
How many dogs like me d-i-e every day without having met someone special like you?.
I know you are saddened by my departure, but I had to leave now.
I want to ask you not to blame yourself.
I heard you sobbing that you should have done something more for me. Don't say that, you've done a lot for me!
Without you, I would have known nothing of the beauty I carry with me today.
You must know that we animals live intensely in the present. Our lives begin when we know love, the same love you gave me, my wingless angel.
Please don't cry anymore. I leave happy.
I remember the name you gave me, the warmth of your house which at that time became mine. I hear the sound of his voice talking to me, even if I don't always understand what he is saying to me.
I carry in my heart every caress you gave me.
Wash your face and start smiling. There are many like me waiting for someone like you.
Please give them what you gave me, they need it like I needed you. ❤

“To love a rescuer you must love all of her. You must love the scars covering her body from panicked and hurt animals she was trying to help. You must love her fractured heart, that has been broken so many times she no longer even takes the time to mend the pieces.

To love a rescuer, you must embrace her grit and determination, and know that although she fights a war she can never win, she can and does win a few battles. You must love the tears she will shed over those she lost. You must give her comfort that she refuses to accept, as she blames herself for things she could have never foreseen.

To love a rescuer you must acknowledge the rage she feels towards the world at times, and know that anger is driven by a love of life too few have. You must give her space and room to cry and mourn for the losses that others have caused out of carelessness or cruelty.

To love a rescuer you must understand her passion to heal and save is a calling, not a choice. You must accept that to save animals is part of her soul and without that she could never be happy.

To love a rescuer you must be patient. You must accept her work comes first. She will forgo sleep, forgo food, forgo her life for animals in need. She will work tirelessly until her body and mind fail her completely and she cannot go on.

To Love a rescuer, you must be strong. You must not be threatened by her focus and love of animals. You must accept that the things you love about her, the strength and convictions and loyalty are also what drives her sense of duty to animals in need; you cannot have one without the other.

To love a rescuer you must never ask her to choose, because she will, and it will not be you. “

Thank you to whomever wrote this.

The early life experiences of pups are so vitally important and extend through to adulthood, influencing physical, emotional, mental and social development.
There are still so many “breeders” that allow pups to be taken away at 6 weeks. Uninformed people just accept this “tradition” without question and are often unprepared for the fall out this may cause. Just because a pup may no longer depend on mom for food, doesn’t mean they are ready to leave the security of their family unit and are ready to cope emotionally in a new home. A 6-week-old pup is still reliant on mom and littermates to learn appropriate play behaviour, impulse control, tolerance to frustration, bite inhibition, self-confidence and develop social skills that will help them become well-adjusted adults.
Scott and Fuller’s influential 1965 book about the social development of dogs recommended that 6 to 8 weeks was the best time to remove a pup from mom and littermates. The “ideal time” in this context was the best time for the human’s benefit and not the dogs (usually financial benefit). Thankfully, through science-based evidence, we have learnt so much about dog behaviour and development since then and our focus has changed to what is best for the dog, not the person. Research shows that waiting until a pup is at least 8 weeks is far less likely to result in any emotional trauma and resulting behavioural challenges.
We live in a broken world where having to care for or rescue pups much younger than 8 weeks is often unavoidable due to various circumstances. In these cases, we do the best we can for them. This post is not about this kind of situation, it’s about spreading knowledge, creating understanding and encouraging people not to support breeders that allow their pups to leave before at least 8 weeks.

With the long weekend quickly approaching please keep your pets safe. Keep them in a quiet room with white noise (music, TV, fans) in the background. Change up your routine by taking them out to potty earlier than normal .. fireworks are set off at all different times so continue to be hypervigalent.

The story of the faithful dog Hachiko is always worth telling, Hachiko waited for years at the train station of the city of Shibuya, Japan, on Hidesaburou Uenou, his owner. Unfortunately, the owner never returned as he died of a heart attack.
March 8 is the anniversary of the day Hachiko died to finally be reunited with his owner. As a token of remembrance, this statue was made.

FORGIVE ME, MOMMY 😢🐾…
I was there where you left me for two whole days. Sleeping right on the side of the road. I was terrified of the noise from the cars but I did not move.
Last night one of those cars stopped and she got out. She invited me to lunch but I said no. She invited me to come sleep at her house and I also said no. I tried to explain to her that I was waiting for you but she wouldn’t listen. She pulled out a leash and said I couldn’t stay there any longer. I bit her several times and ended up p*eing on myself as I growled and cried! She didn’t understand that she was separating me from you! She took me against my will and we drove off! I was so sad because I knew you were going to be worried. We ended up at her house.
I kept screaming hoping you would hear me but you never came. I vomited because of my nerves, feeling so sick. I kept telling her I had to go back because you were going to think I abandoned you when you saw I wasn’t there! I, who love you with all my heart and soul have not stopped crying since we separated a few days ago. I want you to know, I would never do that to you.
I don’t know where you are now or why you stopped the car and left me there. Surely you had something very important to do. Can you come find me now, mommy?
Today I ate because my tummy was hurting. I also slept on a very soft bed. And by accident I also wiggled my tail a bit. I’m so sorry, please forgive me. She’s just being really nice to me. She said I could stay forever. She’s calling me Savannah, but I already have a name. When you pick me up you can tell it to her. You’ll see how surprised she’ll be when you explain to her that this was a big mistake.
Because mommy, you’re coming back for me, right 😢🐾?

A update for you all.
Reports have been made with Animal Welfare Police Dept. and Dog Walkers Association.
Last night we found out that while charged and on trial for Teddys death in 2018, this sad excuse for a Human continued to run his business. Still walking dogs and making money. Had the story been made public and charges it may have saved some heart ache. The Toronto Community he lives and works in had no idea. The Families that he works for trusted him.
In Chilly and Teddys name, may this not happen again. Share in every single dog group you are in.
Regulations in a multi billion dollar business need changes.
As a dog breeder we are under the CKC and Agriculture Canada.
Dog walkers should be bonded to enter your home. Like most professional animal businesses insurance liabilty. Credentials. First Aid.
The dog walking Community is outraged! As they should be! As Chillys Breeder I am devastated. For his loving family that entrusted this monster I want Justice for Chilly and Teddy.

ADOPT🐾❤ RESCUE
See below from a Lady I respect Sue Holden-Morandini 🙏
Just checking kijiji for a lost dog and happened to see the puppy ads. Have people lost their #: #^^÷@& minds ? They are selling mutts for 3-4 thousand dollars. I don't care how you aussie.... How you doodle... .. or how you Berner it...it's a mutt!! It's NOT Pure-BREAD yes you're reading that right. These are people in it for cash only. I feel for these dogs. Makes me sick. BTW Australian shepherd and cattle dog...2 different breeds ! Same goes with golden retriever and Labrador retriever! Oh and noo...a doodle is NOT a purebred!! Neither is a morkie or a snorkie or a schnoodle !!
I can't believe people fall for this s**t .

Ok rant done. Please if you're looking for a dog. Whether it be a purebred or a cross. Do your research! Know your breed. What they need in life and know you can provide that. Some breeds require a helluva lot more exercise than some others. If you cannot give that they may get destructive! Don't blame covid for your dog having no manners or having social issues. Get out there and walk them! Take online class if no open classes in your area! You owe it to them!
Ok maybe my rant wasn't done lol ok im going to shhh now
