Paws Claws Wings and Things Never worry about your pets safety again! Paws Claws Wings and Things came about due to personal necessity and client need.

Not only did we need a solid pet care provider for our dog, cats, and parrot, but we knew people who needed care for llamas, chickens, horses, and more. We pride ourselves on the high-standard of care and services that we offer, as well as the relationships with clients. Many of our clients have become more like family, and consider us to be an integral member of their family. We hope to get the chance to meet your lovely pet soon.

This week’s Pet of the Week is Maggie!!

Maggie and her brother have been a long time client of ours! Trip after trip their mom and dad has entrusted us to care for them while they are away! Fun fact about Maggie she has a twisted paw so she’s not able to make long walks, but no need to worry because she’s got a chest carrier that we get to wear so she can be a part of walks we take with her brother! We absolutely love her!

Hey folks,

Coming next year, 2025, there will be Pet First Aid classes available to the public. Currently, we are working on teaching classes to pet professionals in our area.

We've welcomed a new "dog" to our First Aid Education Team, but he/she needs a name (and a gender). Help us name this beautiful German Shepherd model by posting below.

Primarily, they will be used for CPR and bandaging legs for transport to the vet.

We recently published the first in a series of blog posts about grooming tools that owners can use on their pets at home. Check it out at https://www.pawsclawswings.com/blog

The first in the series is "A Guide to Dog Coat Types", and the second in the series is "Smooth* Coat Grooming".

(I messed up and published the wrong post first, this used to say Short coat, and I meant to publish the Smooth coat post. I apologize for any confusion.)

Sometimes there are tools that just make petlife a little bit easier. Chuckits mean you can throw the ball further; p**p bag dispensers mean you don’t have them all rolled up in a pocket, or flying away when you wanted just one.

While on a walk with client dogs, I came across the most INGENIOUS invention and had to share it with you. If your dog is a ball fiend, but you detest putting the wet/dirty/grassy ball in a pocket, this tool is for you.

Presenting the ball holder, made by N.G. Collars. It is made of a product called biothane that will not hold onto smell, dirt, grime or anything else your dog decides to put their ball through. It can be clipped to your leash, treat bag, or to your belt loop if you’re really casual.

You can find the maker of this item at

Meet Albus!
He is a deaf Persian cat!
Looks can be deceiving because despite looking like a grump lord, he’s the sweetest guy!
He would actually lay on the table and roll over to show us his belly when we were grooming him!
We love having him as a client with us!!

🐕Today, we recognize ‘Responsible Dog Ownership Day!’ This day is meant to remind all pet owners to keep their commitments to their animal companions! Our pets may only be with us for part of our lives, but we must remember we are their entire lives! 🐩

🐕‍🦺Here are 5 ways to be a great and responsible dog owner:

1. Make veterinary appointments a priority!
A yearly checkup can help prevent or catch early signs of illness!

2. Regular grooming and hygiene care!
Keeping your dog clean and well groomed will help the overall physical and mental health of your pet!

3. Microchipping!
Our pets have a mind of their own! Having them microchipped would ensure their safe return if they were ever to get out and picked up!

4. Training!
Not only is training good mental stimulation for your pet, it also creates a bond between pet and owner! While also preventing future unwanted habits!

5. LOTS of exercise and play!
Making sure you spend time with your pets will ensure their happiness! The best part of their day is when they get to spend it with you!

🥁 This week’s ‘Pet of the Week’ is none other than Archie the Beagle!!! 🥁

🐶 Archie has been a client with us for many years, being served in dog walking and grooming! This handsome fella is 11 years old, but has the heart and spirit of a young pup! The only time his age shows is when it’s time to leave the park and all of a sudden he is hard of hearing! Although, this week he listened well despite the occasional distraction, he was never too far behind! Archie really is a certified good boy!

We love you Archie! 🫶

It is super important to check the sidewalk BEFORE you head out, to ensure your pets paws are kept safe.

**This post brought to you by Pet First Aid, from Canine Health Canada**

Don’t forget to do the pavement test before you take your dog for a walk, and ALWAYS choose the coolest part of the day and bring water for your canine companion !

This is an amazingly helpful tip for any above ground or in ground pool owners in Central Alberta.

This may can help squirrels, birds, small animals (or big!) get out of the pool. Did you know porcupines climb trees AND the number one way people get hurt from porcupines is when they FALL from trees!? This small step could help prevent a porcupine from being stranded in your pool.

Simple safety tip!! Securing a rubber doormat to the side of your pool could save a life!
