I have created a new page called "Canine Addiction Agility" as a group is more versatile to use.

EXCITING NEWS!

We are moving our equipment to a larger space and will have new offerings of agility classes!

Starting in March
Location One: Amethyst Equine Connections, Sherwood Park
Classes will be held in a heated indoor arena on dirt/sand footing with a public washroom.

Starting in June
Location Two: Killarney Community League, Edmonton
Classes will be held outdoors on grass with a public washroom on site.

Agility Practice is Back!

We will have drop-in agility practice time available to book every Saturday.

Practices are $20 per half an hour time slot. During this time you have the main floor training space for yourself and your dog to practice what you've learned in class with the equipment. If you want more time you can book back to back time slots.

Did you know the National Dog Agility Championships are right here in Edmonton this summer!?

This event is open to the public to watch some of the best dog and handler teams from across the country compete for top honors and vie for a spot on the world agility team.

This event is not open to non-competing dogs. Please leave your dogs at home.

Here is the video of the Master Jumper course.

My handling choices were:
#1 Front cross to #2 tunnel
Get Back on #3 (haven’t learned these)
Up on #4 with a front cross to #5
Decel ”easy” into #6 tunnel
Catch her in the tunnel with right hand so she knows where I am.
Up #7, #8, go tunnel #9
Frontcross #10 to support line to next tunnel #11
Get back #12
Get back with reverse spin # 13 to get right turn
Up tire #14
Up #15 - needed more decel
Up #16, #17, #18, end

Most jumper courses are 19-22 obstacles.

Hi guys,

If you have never seen an agility course map this is what they look like. This is a Master Jumpers course I did on the weekend. Jumpers = no contacts.

The course is always laid out on a grid to keep distances accurate, the average yards per second your dog should be travelling to make the course time (which is different for each course) is posted on the sheet, and all handlers get to do a course walk for 7 minutes (without dog) before each class.

You must follow the numbers as indicated and the number shows which side of the jump the dog needs to take. You can handle anyway you like ie front vs rear as long as you do obstacles in order.

Hi guys,

I have added two drop in classes for next Thursday evening on April 14th.

6:30pm Skills & Drills: practicing short sequences and proofing contacts

7:30pm Teeter and Weaves: getting more practice on these two pieces of equipment and building them into a sequence.

Cost for a class is $35 and can register through the app. 🙂
