I LOVE this little life of mine!!

Intentional simplicity.

Although from the outside, it may not seem simple. Sourdough and food from scratch is not fast, but once you learn the steps it becomes an easy, simple routine.

Are you with me?

Are you here for the intentional simplicity?

These Sourdough Breadsticks really are simple. It’s my Kate’s Sourdough Master Recipe made into bread sticks!

This means you can whip up a huge batch of dough and get all the things made… bread, cinnamon buns, dinner buns, and now Bread Sticks.

Amazing right!

Ranch seasoning and Parmesan cheese top these easy sourdough bread sticks. Perfect for dipping or straight from the pan.

Ham and Cheese Twice Baked Potatoes is one of those amazing recipes that you don’t think can get any better, until you realize it is the perfect side for a special meal AND they freeze beautifully!!!

Really??
Yep, this recipe uses up less than perfect potatoes and can help save your sanity on those crazy busy days!! Make a big batch and pop them in the freezer.

They make for a great side dish so give ‘em a try, you’ll love them!!

I include many different variations and substitutions in the recipe and also details on freezing and reheating.

Don’t forget about my quark recipe(aka cream cheese); it’s also free on the blog.

Twice baked potatoes are an amazing side dish. Not only do they use up ingredients you have on hand, but they can be made in large batches ahead of time for easy meals.

What do mornings look like at your house?

Some mornings are unavoidably busy. You know, the days you have to hustle to get the chores done and out the door. Or butcher day, that's a busy one that starts with the sun! BUT, when I can, I like to start off slow. Enjoy my tea, read my Bible, and devo. Snuggle my babies as they wake up and join me. The one thing that makes these mornings even better is knowing I have a plan for breakfast, an easy breakfast and even better if I have already started it as the water was heating for my tea!

Cast Iron German Pancakes are one of those breakfasts that let me savor the joy a few minutes longer.

Here’s a quick look at the process:
Step 1: Add butter to a cast iron skillet and pop in the oven to melt.
Step 2: Add remaining ingredients to a blender (or use a whisk) and combine well.
Step 3: Carefully remove the skillet from the oven and swirl the butter to coat. Pour in the batter.
Step 4: Return to the oven and bake until golden and puffed!

We like it best with butter and maple syrup, but there are many other options
applesauce
home-canned pie filling
caramel sauce
a drizzle of honey

Healthy fats in eggs and butter make for a filling breakfast. This cast iron Dutch baby pancake serves a crowd! We serve this German pancake with syrup, butter, applesauce, or jam.

Traditions make for the best memories. Am I right?

What is your favourite Christmas food? I called my grandma for her Stollen bread recipe but honestly, I am not that crazy about it! So, what’s a girl to do? Well, adapt the memory to suit my family, of course!

With sourdough at the ready, I took her recipe and streamlined it down for busy families. It was the perfect base for our preferred fruit and nuts and not much more effort.

May I present for your family's enjoyment- Sourdough Christmas Bread!!

Step 1: Mix starter, sugar, egg, and salt.

Step 2: Melt butter into the milk in a pan on the stove.

Step 3: Pour the butter mixture into your mixing bowl of starter, then add the flour with all the fruit and nuts.

Step 4: Let rest, then knead gently with wet hands.

Step 5: Allow to double in size, 6-10 or overnight.

Step 6: Shape into loaves on a lined baking sheet, then let double again.

Step 7: Slash and bake.

Step 8: Let cool to warm before mixing icing and drizzling overtop.

Ready to try it out? Maybe it will even make your Christmas menu?!!

Make a family tradition with this sourdough Christmas Bread. Reminiscent of stollen, you'll love the fruit and nuts dotting this iced loaf.
