Got the first ride in on Rayne's filly on holiday Monday, last week.

It's been really cool seeing this girls horsemanship grow as we work together getting her first horse ready for her.

Rayne has done the majority of the ground work with Taz, which hasn't been the easiest as she isn't your 'typical' idea of a kids horse. She has been scooty, flighty and nervous about nearly everything. Rayne has had to WORK for this moment.
Building a relationship where she can walk up to her in the pasture to catch her without Taz boogying out of there like you zapped her with the cattle prod, to having her come for a scratch and follow this kid around for the next 15minutes. Being able to walk her out of the yard without her losing her mind and screaming for the herd, being respectful on the halter without her blowing backwards every time something startles her.
She hasn't been a easy one but she's building a pretty great cowgirl out of the deal and I can't wait to watch them continue to grow together.

* Disclaimer* Please don't go buy your kids a c**t to learn on, our niece is a intermediate rider and has had guidance thru every part of the training process. She is learning to train not learning to ride. Lucky little bu**er has a fulltime trainer wrapped around her finger. Most children are benefitted much more from having well broke horses between the age of 10-20years old that have seen and done everything already.

This is probably my favorite thing we teach the Colts!

Does your horse parallel park? If you have ever done the leap of faith onto a old nag your trying to ride bare back you'll appreciate this one!

Quick and easy to teach the benefits are substantial. Allowing the horses to get use to someone being above them before the first ride. Being able to sack them out from a safer position and reducing the strain on their spine compared to getting on from the ground. An all around favorite excercise.

Where is your favorite place to ride in the peace country? We made it up to Tumbler this last weekend and had a ball chasing waterfalls!

Days like yesterday are what makes what we do completely worth it.

Being in the wind, the wet, the cold. Not being able to take off for a weekend or spend as much time with our families as we like. Being married to our job.

But let me tell you. You forget ALL of that when you see the magic that happens the first time a owner gets to have a ride on their baby!

The smile says it all! Thank you so much Andi for trusting us with your girl, can't wait to see the beautiful partnership you two are going to have! ❤️ Happy home day Violet.

This is what we strive for on a first ride.

Even with kids running every which direction, little Miss Lena was right on the ball.

When we do a first ride we try to make the only thing that's new, the weight they are carrying. We have taught them all the commands from the ground, we teach them to come to the fence so they are use to us above them and when we do get on for the first ride we try not to touch their faces at all.

The most progress is found in the small victories.

I've been horrible at keeping up with the page this season, for that I apologize. The last week has been crazy busy. First rides are done on everything on the place and now we get to get on with the fun stuff! We said bye to our favorite goofball on Saturday and he's been sent home to make his momma proud. Thanks again Darcy for letting us work with Garth. He's a neat one for sure!.

Our stalls are done!! We owe a bunch of thank you's for this one! First and foremost Riley for absolutely everything he helps me achieve around here, his grandparents for allowing us to borrow their skid steer. D &A Tofteland trucking for hauling our sand in. Dan from the Baytree Colony for making us our beautiful stalls (highly recommend them if your looking to have something built) And Chelsy Morin for lending a huge hand helping rake everything out!

Pretty stoked to see these upgrades in progress! Putting in proper footing for the round pen and and making space for our new stalls along the shop! These will also be bedded with sand for the horses!

Meet Garth! This big chunk is quickly stealing all the hearts around here, his "puppy dog" "come play with me attitude" has kept everyone smiling and laughing this past weekend. We are really excited to see where this big fearless fella finishes in our program!

🌲⛺🔥Who's interested in a summer camp out?!🔥⛺🌲

We want to gauge interest in a client appreciation weekend for later this summer.

We would love to get all our friends, family, past and potentially future clients together for a weekend with our horses.

We are fortunate enough to have the Spring Lake Equestrian campground near us and if there is enough interest we will book in for a long weekend. This could potentially be a annual thing!
