GOODBYE & THANK YOU 👋🪱❤️
To all our customers at Wormbox.ca –
Over three years ago, and before the start of the pandemic, Wormbox began as an idea. I had a newborn, a small red wiggler worm production set-up in my basement and a desire to transform waste into gold (good old alchemy); and I saw what would be the weeks of pandemic lockdowns coming ahead to North America. Following a year of slowly testing the local market, I built Wormbox.ca one night from my living room in early March 2020; I knew it had to be launched as soon as possible and ran ahead with this vision: that people would be home, people would return to gardening – and to (re)discover vermicompost with a new vermicomposting supply offer.
It sounds easy enough – but after over 7000 orders, multiple production systems, hours of knowledge building and coaching others in starting out – I can tell you the learning curve has been steep. You know this. From those of you starting your first vermicompost kitchen set-up, to our interactions with schools and businesses, to partnerships across the industry - we at Wormbox.ca have listened, spent hours over email and phone with you, and generally been a part of building this market to make vermicomposting more easily accessible, beautiful, and wide-spread. For this I’m very proud; I can confidently say that we brought the vermicomposting market to a next level in Canada, and there will truly be a before, and after, Wormbox.
Every business has its challenges. With our fast growth since day one has come malicious online attacks, customs import challenges, closed industrial ports, as well as increased motivation from our most unique and original competitors - and explosive customer demand everywhere in Canada. From an industrial shelf rack in my basement, to an almost 4000 square foot industrial warehouse, and the endless work hours that requires - I have been there, I have been adapting, and my family has seen me through. These make for unbelievably great stories I’ll have to tell – just ask next time you see us.
But with every great ride, at some point the music stops and it’s time to get off – and this has been my time, as many orders had to be canceled and refunded this spring.
I’m now serene in passing on the torch to Pacific Composting Co, from whom you will be able to continue to get high quality composting worms, systems and supplies at very competitive prices. They will also be selling Urbalive worm farms and products. They are currently shipping to locations in British Columbia and looking to expand in the future. I’m convinced from their ethic, quality of work and educational approach that they too, will in their own way, bring vermicomposting in Canada to another level. Be sure to sign up for their Composter’s Club to receive composting tips and special offers. When you sign up for the Composter’s Club, you will also receive a free copy of their Worm Care Guide to download.

I’m happy with what we accomplished, the inspiration we brought to this market, and we thank you for all your orders, our discussions and encounters. You have been a great part of this project in my life.
