Today we had our Halloween training class. Akia did very well… her ears didn’t have a good day though. LOL

ADC Akia has hit quite the biting stage. ADC Shanka is helping to teach her not to bite by gently correcting her when she forgets to be gentle.

ADC Akia attended her first class today. She was quite vocal to start but settled after she got used to the other dogs and handlers. She did very well remembering to sit before being petted and has started to learn auto-sit. It was an hour-and-a-half class and she very well.

Today Akia experienced some new sounds. Our neighbours were hunting and the gun shot sounds were very loud. Akia was very brave and showed no negative reactions at all. We also introduced a crinkly sounding tarp. Akia was encouraged to walk on the tarp which felt interesting under her paws and made an interesting sound. Akia was excited and kept wanting to bite and play with it.

Today we managed to collect pheromone samples from an individual who had just finished a seizure. Those samples will be frozen then used with Akia for scent training.

When a pup does something naturally we capture that behaviour and give it a cue word . Today we are working on “get it” which means to simply pick up the item. Soon we will work on “bring” and “give”. Good girl Akia!

ADC Akia’s first time in a store. We carried her because she hasn’t had all of her shots yet. She did amazing.

Akita’s first day was a huge success. She did some leash work on our property (she can’t walk in public yet because she hasn’t had all of her shots) She watched the retrievers…well…retrieve. She learned about so many things snd experienced new sights, smells, and sounds. Today she went in the rain and threw a little tantrum then as fast as it started… it ended.
