We can relate to our pal Odin here!

The hot and humid weather lately has been a real bummer! We try our best to walk in the early part of the day, offer water breaks often, and find trails that are shaded. We will also try our best to notify you on mornings when we are experiencing high heat levels to let you know that we may shorten an appointment, offer a potty break instead or reschedule for another time. Feel free to contact us as well on days when you may feel it is too hot for your furry friend. We want our dogs to stay safe and cool! )

A little late on this post but we welcome Lucas to the Tree’s team!

Lucas has had kennel experience and has a genuine interest in animal care. You may also notice him from as he works there part time. One of his best friends is a border collie named Leeroy. He is in his last year of high school and was on the FHS Varsity football team in which he was defensive lineman of the year.

Luc will be helping us part time and will be stepping up to full time when the school year ends. And… yes, Luc is our other son!

It's been a hard few weeks.

This week, we said goodbye to sweet as he lost his battle to cancer. Anyone who met Otis fell in love with him. He was vocal and quirky. He loved to meander alongside us during our walks on his beautiful property, never venturing too far from our side. He had so many furry friends. He lived an amazing life with an amazing family that fought alongside him during his battle.

Rest easy, big guy. We will miss you. Let's hope you have all the treats, cozy cushions, and trails on the other side of Rainbow Bridge.

Heads up, fellow dog walking friends!

Unfortunately, a snare was found this morning in the Sunset neighbourhood of Fredericton (the post from the Sunset Neighbourhood Watch page, said between the berry fields and the MacDonalds builder site).

I had just walked through with dogs when one of our clients notified me. For people who are not educated on snares, they are intended to kill via strangulation. The animal gets their head in the loop, and it tightens the more the animal resists. Wire cutters are the only way to remove a snare.

The fact that this was found in a populated area where many dogs (I have seen cats there as well) frequent daily is alarming. Please be careful out there!

Tonight, we say goodbye to Marty.

Marty was one of our very first clients at Tree's Petcare. He kept us laughing with all of his shenanigans and loved to play with his toys or take a dip in the pool. His happy place was his trail through the woods, which we shared with him almost every week. Marty had the best life and will be greatly missed.

Rest easy, good boy. We hope there are endless trails for you on the other side of Rainbow Bridge.

It appears that this hot and humid weather is going to stick around for a bit longer. We are trying our best to schedule our appointments appropriately, carry lots of water, and walk dogs in all the cool/shady spots that we can find. We are also shortening out adventure pack dog walks and are monitoring the dogs for any signs of heat stress. We take the heat very seriously and are doing our best to keep dogs as comfortable as possible.
