Hello and welcome! I am considering breeding gerbils and am looking for potential local buyers. If there is enough interest then the process can start.
Gerbils are social, curious and very active.
They do best in pairs.
They are a desert animal, so they don't urinate as much as other rodents and don't smell. They also cannot get thier fur wet, if they do they can get very sick. Water in a bottle and nothing else will do.
Glass aquariums are best for them as they love to borrow and run around, and saves you from cleaning messes all the time.
If spot cleaned everyday, thier whole enclosure only really needs to be cleaned once a month.
Materials you can use for thier enclosure are:
Bedding: carefresh bedding
Borrowing: aspen shavings
Playsand: they love bathing and rolling in sand to keep themselves clean. They also use the bathroom in it.
Dirt: preferably potting soil without any fertilizers, I personally use this for scattering thier food in so they can forage for thier food more naturally then giving in a food dish.
If interested I can breed solid black, brown and white colors.
Can sell to Lunenburg County and area.
Feel free to message me if your interested and have any questions.
