To all of my wonderful clients,

Running a small, independent business means wearing many hats, and I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who supports what I do.

Over the past few years I’ve continued investing in advanced training and professional development, and with the opening of the rehab centre my practice has continued to grow and evolve. After reviewing my pricing within the industry, and considering the increasing costs of operating a mobile business, I will be making an adjustment to my pricing starting April 1st (no, this isn’t a joke).

Each treatment session is tailored to what the horse needs (including spending as much time as needed on one horse) and may include a combination of:

• Massage
• Chiro
• Osteo
• Acu
• K-taping
• Craniosacral therapy
• Feed analysis and personalized feed programs
• Herbology
• Homeopathy
• Saddle fit evaluation
• 24/7 access to myself for any questions or concerns

Using multiple modalities allows me to approach each horse as a whole, addressing the root of issues and helping both horse and rider perform at their best.

While reviewing pricing within our region, I found that many practitioners charge significantly more for a single specialized treatment alone. On average, one individual modality locally is about 25% higher than my upcoming adjustment, even before combining multiple therapies within a session.

Beginning April 1st, treatment sessions will be $150 per horse.

Travel appointments outside an hour radius will continue to include a travel fee.
Haul-ins and group bookings will continue to receive discounted rates.

Any appointments after April 1st that are already scheduled will remain at the current rate.

These changes allow me to continue providing thorough, high-quality care while keeping my small independent business sustainable.

Thank you so much for your understanding and for your continued support. It truly does not go unnoticed. I absolutely love what I do, and your horses are always my first priority ❤️🐴

There are no quick fixes in Equine Remedial Therapy.

And truthfully, the same can (should) be said for human medicine.

Most injuries, dysfunctions, and imbalances are the result of a domino effect that started much earlier in life; a stressful period, an old injury, compensation patterns that developed over time, or subtle imbalances that slowly built up.

The same is true for horses.

My job as an Equine Remedial Therapist isn’t simply to treat what you see today. My job is to figure out why your horse feels the way they do and why they are compensating the way they are.

There are many factors involved in a horse’s body and health. One important reality to remember is that horses were never designed to carry humans. I don’t advocate for horses not to be ridden, but it does mean that human intervention plays a role in almost every physical issue I see.

Sometimes that intervention is beneficial, sometimes it unintentionally creates problems. Either way, the horse’s body adapts.

One thing we were taught in school that always stuck with me is that even an extra inch left on the right hind toe can create a cascade of issues throughout the entire body — affecting balance, muscle tension, stress patterns, and even digestion.

So if something as small as that can influence the entire horse, it’s important to understand why problems that have developed over months or years rarely resolve in a single treatment.

One thing I will never do as an Equine Remedial Therapist is promise a quick fix.

What I will do is work with you to truly help your horse. That might mean bodywork, homework for clients, adjusting management, looking at nutrition, or helping you understand how to support your horse’s balance and health long-term.

I’m not in the business of masking symptoms or chasing quick results.

I do this work because horses have given so much to us. Anyone who has spent time with them understands that.

Healing a body that is constantly adapting to outside forces like riding, training, environment, hoof balance, nutrition, etc… takes time. Especially when the root of the issue may have been developing for years.

My goal is always to advocate for the horse and work with my clients to create lasting change, not just something that looks better for a week.

And most importantly, to give you the knowledge and tools to help your horse stay balanced and healthy for months and years to come.

Because real healing doesn’t happen in one treatment — it happens through understanding, consistency, and time.

Have you ever noticed that our animals are a reflection of ourselves?

I see it a lot in my work, and everyday, with family and friends, with their pets. But especially in horses, with bodywork.
We all know how sensitive horses are. We confide in them our secrets, our deepest thoughts and feelings. We communicate with them through touch and feel, and yet still, some people forget that they absorb everything. They can feel our heart beat, still sometimes we fail to realize that they will adapt to us.

Countless times I have been asked the age old question; “why?”.
“Why is my horse compensating in those places? He passed his lameness exam with flying colours.” — Meanwhile the rider is standing, with their left leg rested, favouring that hip from an old injury.
“My horse shifts her weight back and forth while we’re standing in our lineup in the routine, are you sure she’s okay?” — meanwhile, the person asking me the question, the rider, is also shifting from leg to leg as she stands and watches me work.

Now— it’s not a bad thing. We connect with them for a reason, horses are a blessing to us. However, it’s important to be aware of how we affect them. Everything I find in bodywork on my own horses— barring any injuries— is nearly always a reflection of how I carry myself. Whether that is emotionally or physically. Now— there are variations from discipline to discipline, and how horses are started, but the biggest barriers are ourselves.

It goes both ways as well; if you’re really in tune. We can feel what they feel, you just have to know how to listen.

Feet— a controversial subject. (Although it shouldn’t be).

This mare at the time of these photos was suffering from lameness due to strain on the DDFT (Deep digital flexor tendon).

Can anyone tell me what changes were made to this foot during this trim to reduce strain on the ddft?

“The least I can do is speak for those who can’t.” – Dr. Jane Goodall

I read this quote today, and it really hit me deep—because this is exactly what my work is defined by.
I don’t work on horses just to earn a living. Yes, bills exist—but I didn’t enter this industry to make a quick buck. I came into it to make a change. This work is a passion. I love these animals, and with the amount of forgiveness, generosity, and heart they give us, they deserve to be listened to.
There are times when I have to step back and carefully consider how to explain to an owner what I’m finding. Dysfunction in a horse’s body can be quiet, cruel, and deeply painful—and often, they don’t have the means to express it. Some horses don’t buck, don’t resist, don’t make a fuss. They simply keep doing their job, without complaint.
That’s what makes it hard sometimes—to convey the seriousness of what their bodies are telling me. But I always remind myself of this: they don’t have a voice, but I do. And I can see what’s going on.
When a horse’s body is speaking loud and clear that it’s in pain, it is my responsibility to advocate for them—to tell their story honestly and help guide a path toward healing.
Too often, animals—not just horses—are treated as tools. Whether working animals or emotional supports, they’re relied upon without truly being heard. My job, and my promise, is to listen… and to speak for them when they can’t.

If this resonates with you, drop a “🤍” in the comments, and take a moment to really listen to the animals in your care— most importantly; don’t be afraid to advocate for them when something doesn’t feel right.

Happy Holidays my friends 🫶🏻

Couldn’t have done any of this without the wonderful Sublime Stables team. Last night was a long one!!!

Well our patient is in for observation and some more diagnostics.

We had a follow up visit with the vet on Friday and we still found no major structural issues or broken bones. But we did find out that she had an infection brewing.

We tried our best to keep her comfortable at the farm. Icing her every few hours, giving her homeopathic and bute and few others to help with the pain. After an all night effort last night icing and monitoring her we got her comfortable enough for her trailer ride to the clinic this morning. (She was a rock star for her ride)

There is a bunch of secondary things happening because her body is compensating for the shoulder and now the infection.

The vets at Delaney Veterinary Services Ltd. Have been amazing and she is in great hands at the clinic.

She is still bright and allert and is proving to be a very tough filly.

Thank you again to Black Bear Equine Therapy for all your hard work helping with this case.

21 day check in with Miss Joansie!

It’s hard to see the differences to an untrained eye with only 3 weeks difference. But I am so happy with her progress!

So let’s play a little game; if you take a look at her front end, can you tell me what has changed and what I did to make those changes? (hint: it was only ONE thing done)🤪
