Bane’s Buds has been so busy lately.. I was planning to wind it down and instead it rev’d right up!! 💥 We got new dogs in the group (will share more on those cuties later 🖤) and what I’m most excited about is we have finally got our first batch of dog treats in store at Vessel Woodworks ❤️ 🐾

This is just the first of many different products I’ll be making for the fur babies 🖤

It’s a long process getting them just right to sell.. I mean let’s be honest - our dogs will eat their treats in any way, shape or form 😂 but they have to look good enough for us humans to want to buy right?! 💎

A lot of love and labour went into these babies! But stay tuned because they are just going to get even better with more variety!

Bane’s Buds has been back in full swing the last few weeks.. A lot of cute dogs we spent time with this week 🐾

My ankle is getting better everyday and I’ll be picking up more dog walks soon ❤️

Monday was a very sad day for Bane’s Buds 💔

One of our favorite babies crossed over the rainbow bridge 🌈

The sweetest and gentlest and kindest boy you’d ever meet ❤️

Every time I pick Diesel up with his sister Lexus he would bark with excitement from the second I walked in the door until we got outside. And then the first thing he would do was run to my car door to make sure Bane was there and coming with us 🖤

There is definitely a huge hole in our hearts and it’s not going to be the same without him. 💔

Diesel we love you so much and we hope you are getting all the treats and all the love and peace you deserve up there buddy ❤️

I’m so glad I connected these two beauties 🙏

Their parents get them together multiple times a week now and they play each other out with hours and hours of wrestling and running 🐕 and even have sleep overs now ❤️ They don’t even need me as a dog walker anymore 😂

But this is why I do what I do ❤️🙌

Oh Molly.... 💕

Molly is just a dog that really loves spending time with other dogs. She has a hard time fully enjoying a walk because she’s always so focused on where there might be a dog that lives somewhere close by or where she thinks she heard a bark or that the tiny speck 1000 km away that must be a dog!! 😂

And she whines and jumps around like a banshee trying to get to those places 😭

Well today I thought I’d just bring Bane along to see if he would help her calm down - because we all know that Bane is all business and no play on his walks 😬

And sure enough she was such a good girl! She did way better and was focused on the walk with her tail high and proud the entire time. She kept cuddling her face into Bane’s ❤️💙 Turns out all she needed was a Bane 💕

When I started walking him a few weeks ago it was - well let’s just say very “challenging” lol.

He pulled me the ENTIRE walk... nearly choked himself to death on the slip lead, didn’t respond to my voice, treats, clickers, anything... He went nuts at every single sound, dog, person that looked like a dog from far away 😂 Oh my body was so sore by the time I was done our hour together 🤕

I’ve only been walking him a few weeks.. with a new harness, consistency and lots of love, today was by far our best walk yet.

I get covered in kisses when I arrive and bend down to leash him up 😘 He pulls waaaay less than all the walks before. And I was able to turn his focus a lot more than any other of our walks. Makes me feel pretty darn good ❤️❤️

People ask me if I take a “bunch of dogs” on a walk at once to make more $$. The answer is a huge NO! This is not a good way to walk dogs. Bane would absolutely hate it if he couldn’t smell or play chase through a field we come across or if he was constantly bumping into another dog. And I know all my other dogs would too. ❤️

"Pack walks are so much fun for dogs."

NO they are not. Not like this. Off leash with compatible friends could be great but not this. There are so many potential threats to these dogs.

We see many pictures like this on social media and the average response indicates people think this is a good thing.It doesn't impress me. It shows an utter disregard for the dogs happiness and/or a complete lack of understanding regarding normal and natural canine behaviour and the needs of the dogs.

This photo is not a photo of happy dogs. They can't sniff anything which is the most exciting thing about going walking for a dog. Dogs get so much joy from sniffing on walks. Sniffing is the doggie equivalent of humans taking joy in seeing beautiful things. All things olfaction are what dogs are all about wheras humans are more visually inclined. Sniffing is reading the local news for your dog. This picture is exactly the same as me taking you window shopping in a blindfold.

They can't see much walking like this. They need to stay in their positions and keep pace to ensure their leads do not tangle. So its physical exercise without the benefit of the mental enrichment that comes from sniffing and experiencing the environment.

There are several different aspects of this photo that suggest discomfort. If you can't recognise them we recommend the dog decoder ap to learn to recognise the initial and more subtle body language cues dogs display.

These photos and the adulation they receive from the general public really cause me concern. As a behaviour consultant who specialises in reactivity all I can think when I see this is what if they encounter a dog and there is a reactive response from any of the dogs present? These dogs are trapped together. They may very well panic and start redirecting on each other. Flight is not an option in this situation.

What if one of these dogs is injured, sick or has some kind of medical emergency? How will you deal with that with so many to care for? What if one of them has a seizure? A dog having a seizure can result in aggression from other dogs.

What if an off leash dog appears? Or a cat? Rabbit? You get the gist. Its not safe. It can be difficult enough to deal with an unsupervised, unknown, unleashed dog when you are only walking one dog without this kind of complication.

Dogs also have varying comfort zones in regard to personal space. No personal space in this photo

This isn't a joyful photo. Its physical exercise. Nothing more. There is quiet alot of pressure on these dogs. My dogs walk is for them and me and I promise them it would never look like this. My dogs walk is happy time. I want them to get all the enrichment opportunities they can safely have.

I'm not a drill sargent. I'm my dogs best mate.

Side note - don't send me these pictures. It breaks my heart to see dogs getting less than they deserve.
