This handsome Maine C**n is Jomi. He may be a little shy but he certainly knows how to pose for the camera, especially when he is out of reach!

Are you wondering how your pets will react to the solar eclipse?

🌔 It is not natural for pets to stare directly at the sun, so most pets will not be impacted

🌒 Higher anxiety pets may experience some agitation due to the behavioural changes in their humans, so keep anxious pets indoors and distracted with their fave treats and toys

🌑 If you and your pet are outside during the eclipse, wear something highly visible and/or bring a flashlight

🌘 In York Region/Southern Ontario, the solar eclipse will occur roughly between 2:00-4:30pm, with the peak of the eclipse occurring ~3:20pm

A friend shared these great guidelines. 😎

Do you have any favourite long weekend activity with your fur-baby?

We were sad to say goodbye to Max, a 15 year old Lab. Max was no longer able to do all the things he used to enjoy. Max's family would like him to be remembered for the amazing dog that he was. They shared these beautiful photos of Max in his happier days. We hope Max is doing all those fun activities again somewhere over the rainbow bridge. 🐾🌈💕

Joni is a beautiful tortie kitty who is used to living outdoors. Her kind and very patient dad is slowly convincing Joni to enjoy the comforts and safety of staying indoors. Check out the outdoor house he hooked up to the electrical for warmth (& there's a heated water bowl next to it!!) 😻

This winter, Joni has decided to stay in the main house much much longer. 🤗
We get the feeling Joni knows she's a VERY lucky outdoor (but hopefully now indoor) cat!

Peanut was a sweet mini poodle who was so cherished! No words could describe the heartbreak when Peanut's mum had to say goodbye to her beloved boy. She shares some of her favourite photos and videos in this memorial, honouring their beautiful bond.

Please let us know if your pet reminds you of a celebrity 🤩

🐩🦮Ear scratching, head shaking -sound familiar? Dealing with an ear infection can be ruff!🐶 Check out what we see under our microscope when we do an ear swab/cytology. The cute blue ‘snowman’ ☃️ shape cells are budding yeasts. Yeast are normal on the skin and ears but when the ear becomes inflamed, the yeast overgrows to create an infection. 🐾

We sometimes get nervous seeing the doctor even when we understand what will take place during our appointment. Pets who are shy or anxious with new people may need extra help preparing for veterinary visits, including in-home appointments.

Rhino's amazing mum kept him company in the bathroom before our visit. A bathroom is usually the perfect place to prevent a cat from hiding behind or under furniture. It is important to set up the best chance of success to increase your pet's confidence in new experiences.

🐾 Caring for our senior fur babies! 🐕💖
As our pets age, their skin becomes thinner and more fragile. They can be more prone to sores, especially if they are lying down for longer periods of time. If your senior pet has a sore, it is important to seek veterinary care.
This is Miss Tia, during our recent wound care appointment. We use our therapeutic laser to stimulate cell regeneration, reduce inflammation, and enhance blood circulation, promoting faster recovery. Miss Tia also required a 3-layer bandage to protect the wound from further injury. Our golden oldies deserve the best care! 🩹✨

We often hear, "I wish our pets could live longer!" Yes, we agree!! As we continue to work on extending the number of years for our beloved pets, there are more options available now to improve the comfort and quality of their senior years. Living longer is more enjoyable with the right supportive care. Our pets age much faster than we do. Early detection is key to ensure they receive the best chance of living their happiest golden years. Check our website for more information on aging pets:

Deciding an end of life care for a beloved pet is never easy. When Gilbert was diagnosed unexpectedly with cancer and got sick at such a young age (2 years old), it was beyond devastating! Gilbert's incredible mum is honouring his memory by sharing a beautiful message about her love for Gilbert, including this informative website created to help other pet parents who may be grieving or struggling with a declining pet.

"...and the award for the smallest patient of the day goes to Lulu!”

Lulu was due for her annual blood work and tried to use her double but we didn’t fall for it!

We are sooo THANKFUL each day for you, our wonderful clients and your beloved pets. It is because of all of you that we get to do what we love and share our passion for veterinary care in the comforts of your homes. We wish you a safe and bountiful Thanksgiving weekend!

Cats naturally LOVE boxes and cozy hiding areas. If we remove fear from the pet carrier experience, your cat will feel safer & calmer when travelling (especially during emergency). Setting up the carrier as a valuable parcel of real estate for your kitty is a matter of changing our perception.

Check out how much Midget enjoys staying in his carrier during our visit. His mum made sure he was super comfortable!

Did you know? Long nails change the biomechanics of the toes. So, it is very important to keep nails short for all pets, especially ones with mobility issues.
Important tip: remember to trim the “feathers” between the toes, as these are slippery, especially on hard floor surfaces.
Hunter was super awesome for his trimming session during our first visit.

Timmy is a very sweet-natured kitty who needed a different solution for his blood glucose monitoring. In some cases, depending on the pet’s situation and needs, a FreeStyle Libre sensor (for human use) is a good option since it allows us to monitor glucose levels without the stress of multiple blood collections. Timmy is doing great with the sensor!

They grow up so fast!! We met Blue as a tiny kitten in April 2023. Now, he's a young adult kitty! He was recently neutered & doing very well...still full of s***k!
