Name: Ralph (7) & Penny (9) (Bonded Pair)

Breed: Jack Russell/Chihuahua

Fosters location: Renfrew, ON

Is your dog good with other dogs:Yes, Both are tolerant of other dogs but Ralph will let another dog know its time to back off… in chihuahua fashion.

Is your dog good with cats: Tolerant

Is your dog good with kids: Yes, but would not recommend babies, toddlers or any children that dont understand proper boundaries.

Current size: 11 lbs (Ralph) & 16 lbs (Penny)

Is your dog house trained: Yes

Is your dog crate trained: Yes

Does your dog have any special needs/medical conditions: seasonal allergies which are well controlled and non issue at this point. Penny is fine, but a little chonky. Both dogs will require dental cleaning in their future.

Does your dog have any or display any aggressions (toys, food, people, leash reactivity): Ralph has been known to nip strangers, and when hes uncomfortable. He will also snap at dogs hes unhappy with. Penny is the sweetest lady youll ever meet.

Is your dog playful: No, not really.

Describe the dogs energy level: low at baseline, but loves to go for walks and will run at the park with other dogs

Does your dog like to snuggle: very very much. They're very lovey.

Does your dog know basic commands: None known.

Does your dog know any special tricks: None known

Does your dog like to go on walks: very much

Does your dog have any fears: Not really, they're aware of new people and situations.

Does your dog have any unique traits you have noticed, whether in personality or physically: They both love their humans and snuggling with them under the covers.

What are the first 3 words that come to mind when you think of your dog: sweet, affectionate, adorable

In a short paragraph please provide any other details or a brief overview of your foster dog: Ralph can be a little shy in a new situation or environment, but quickly warms up and finds his place. He absolutely loves to snuggle and cuddle. He is loyal and affectionate, and keeps a very close eye on Penny, who is his sibling to whom he is bonded. His foster family finds him to be an absolute pleasure to have! Penny is always happy. In fact, she appears to smile when she sees her foster family and quickly comes in for hugs and snuggles. She adapts well to new environments and loves to go for car rides. She was quite obese when coming into care, but has lost a good amount of weight with good food and lots of activity. She is an absolute pleasure to be around.

If you believe you're a good fit for Penny and Ralph, please apply below.

Their bonded senior adoption fee is $500.00

Name: Gloria (5) & Junior (3)

Weight: 25-30 lbs each

Breed: French Bulldogs

Is your foster dog sterilized: Yes

Is your foster dog vaccinated: Yes, DHPP and Rabies vaccine.

Is your dog good with other dogs: Yes, they are after slow and proper intos. Junior likes to body check, and together they create a little piranha pack. Once slowly introduced they settle and adjust. Should not be adopted into a home with a dog with any kind of reactivity.

Is your dog good with cats: Untested, likely would chase and bully them (mostly Junior)

Foster Location: Nepean, ON

Is your dog good with kids: Yes, Both have lived with small children and older children and done well. Respect and boundaries is crucial, as Junior has ear pain and some guarding of his toys.

Current size: Medium

Is your dog house-trained: Yes

Is your dog crate trained: Yes separate crates. Gloria will go in with no issues, Junior needs some help and he will bark and scratch at the cage when we first leave.

Does your dog have any special needs or medical conditions? Both dogs have severe allergies. Both dogs are on daily medication to aid these allergies. Recently Gloria was given a cytopoint injection as her Apoquel wasnt cutting it and shes doing amazing. Both require medicated baths and special food. Junior just had surgery on his ear, to drain it and things are going well.

Does your dog have any or display any aggression (toys, food, people, leash reactivity): yes- they both eat together with some distance, they can become a little aggressive over toys & food, they bark and lunge on leash when dogs walk by.

Is your dog playful: Yes they can be, they like toys and cuddles.

Describe the dogs energy level: Lower end, they are calm quiet nappers but when you get them playing they are full of energy.

Does your dog like to snuggle: Very much a cuddly couple, they go where I go and like to snuggle on the couch.

Does your dog know basic commands: Sit, wait, come ... .working on shaking a paw and lay down. Their previous commands were in french, so duo lingo is required 🙂

Does your dog know any special tricks: Snoring like baby gremlins

Describe the dog's level of training: Decent, They respond when called by name and can do simple commands.

Does your dog like to go on walks: They do like walks and are good on leash overall, not big pullers.

Does your dog have any fears: Loud sounds

Does your dog have any unique traits you have noticed whether in personality or physically: They are a bonded pair but they definitely compete to be top dog and who gets the most attention. They hump each other at times but it seems like a playful dominance thing. Gloria loves to get the most attention and likes to be hand fed sometimes at meal times when she's getting used to her environment. When theyre with other dogs, Gloria is Juniors hype man and has his back 100%. He isnt as loyal.

What are the 3 first words that come to mind when you think of your dog: Adorable, loving, snorers.

Provide a description of your foster dog and the ideal home for them
Calm quiet household with no other animals and older kids. Calmer area not high foot traffic neighborhood. Owners that are around often and like to cuddle and share their personal space. They are a super lovely bonded pair that just loved and to feel safe. The owners would also need to keep up with skin care routines, Gloria and Junior both love to wear their pajamas to bed after they've been lotioned up.They require allergie meds, and ongoing special food. The previous rescue they were with did extensive food testing and found one that works.

If you believe Gloria and Junior are the perfect match for you, please apply below.

Their bonded adoption fee is $900.00

“No” is a word we rarely use, and we absolutely couldn’t say no when we were contacted about these local orphaned puppies.

With puppy intakes comes the need for formula, p*e pads, and puppy food. If you’re able to donate either of these items, please send us a message for the shipping/drop off location (Kanata).

Thank you!

Brenden is available for adoption!

Age: 2 years

Weight: 70 lbs

Breed: Poodle Mix

Is your foster dog sterilized: Yes

Is your foster dog vaccinated: DHPP and rabies received

Is your dog good with other dogs: Yes

Is your dog good with cats: untested

Foster Location: Nepean

Is your dog good with kids: 16+

Current size: large

Is your dog house trained: Yes

Is your dog crate trained: in training

Does your dog have any special needs or medical conditions? Has been treated for Lyme Disease

Does your dog have any or display any aggression (toys, food, people, leash reactivity): Can be anxious on 1st introduction to people. No food or toy aggression

Is your dog playful: Yes

Describe the dogs energy level: Medium

Does your dog like to snuggle: sometimes but loves attention

Does your dog know basic commands: Sit

Does your dog know any special tricks: No

Describe the dogs level of training: minimal, but very smart

Does your dog like to go on walks: Yes

Does your dog have any fears: Yes (former puppy mill dog)

Does your dog have any unique traits you have noticed whether in personality or physically: No

What are the 3 first words that come to mind when you think of your dog: loving, gentle, smart

Provide a description of your foster dog and the ideal home for them: Brendan is deserving of a loving home. Rescued from a puppy mill, Brendan comes with some anxieties around new people, sounds/noises and sudden movements. He is however a good boy. With the help of his foster sister, he is quickly learning to trust, play, be silly, relax and just be a giant puppy. He walks well, but can be nervous around strangers. He just wants love and attention. He will need further training and more socialization but is smart and wants to please his people. He would do well in a home with a second dog. Brenden would prefer a home with no young children as he can be startled easily and nervous around kid-energy. He is looking for a committed adopter that will continue training and socialization.

If you believe you’re a good fit for this dog, please apply below.

Please note we are 100% volunteer run and we only contact those who are considered for adoption.

Rescue comes with heartbreak, but we open ourselves up to it in the hopes that we can help animals in need. What we don’t expect is for that heartbreak to be caused by a fellow “rescue”.

On July 26th, 2024, Riverview Rescues placed 10 cats with Eastern Ontario Cats (EOC) from our Manitoba pull. We were notified that 2 of those cats went on to have kittens, and then communications ceased and we were not updated again.

News began to unfold that EOC was operating in a way that was contradictory to the core beliefs of animal rescues, as well as the welfare of the cats in care. Despite multiple attempts for a welfare check by one of our team members and Jackie Gauthier () we were brushed off and told our cats were all fine. We continued to press for more information from EOC, requesting pictures, updates, and inquiring about bringing the cats back into our care - but we were told that the cats were doing well and that some of them had even been adopted.

In late September, Jackie was contacted by EOC with a request to help with 30 “shy” cats. When Jackie brought this to us, we reached out to the founder again, offering to help and saying we would try to help with the “shy” cats but still needed information on ours.

On the evening of October 8th, 2 rescuers received a disturbing message with pictures from the owner of the home occupied by the founder of EOC. They quickly identified one of the cats in the photos as Riverview Rescues’ missing cat and drove over 2 hours to save them. We anxiously awaited news on the rescue effort - and thanks to the hard work of Jackie, and the team from Biscuits & Purrs Cat Rescue, the cats were rescued and removed from EOC’s possession. Unfortunately, of the 25 Riverview cats unaccounted for, only 2 of those removed were ours. With knowledge of their conditions and situation, we began intake for all 6 of the abandoned cats. They were emaciated, riddled with parasites, and covered in urine and f***l matter. The cats were held in a safe place until we could retrieve them on the morning of October 9th. Upon pickup, we immediately got the 6 cats into emerge to be cared for. The 2 cats that were originally ours were the mothers that we were told had litters - but their kittens were not found with them when they were rescued.

Some needed more veterinary care than others, but all were in terrible shape. Just this visit alone cost our rescue thousands.
1 cat was diagnosed with severe dental disease needing extractions, antibiotics, pain meds, blood work, and urine testing. Her test results came back concerning, and more blood work is scheduled to follow before her dental surgery.
1 cat was severely emaciated, had severe diarrhea and coccidia. She was put on treatments and is recovering slowly, but well.
1 cat presented well for her exam, but needed to be treated for parasites and mites.
3 kittens (2 of the same litter and one older) were emaciated, ears full of mites, two had distended worm bellies and tested positive for coccidia. All had been exposed to Panleukopenia in the location they were rescued from.

Despite our best efforts, what they had been exposed to had already started to take its toll on them and on October 20th we lost one of the kittens, Sink. Now the other 2 of the kittens are quickly declining and have been admitted into urgent care. The kittens have tested positive for Panleukopenia in addition to their battle with Coccidia - a deadly combination. There is no cure for Panleukopenia, unfortunately there is only supportive care.

We are fighting for these cats and doing everything in our power, but without the funds we can only do so much.

We have currently invested almost $10,000 in the veterinary care of the 6 cats we brought in. This is not the end of the road, it’s just the beginning to get the remaining cats back in good health. If you can donate towards their care, please consider sending an EMT to [email protected]

Donations can also be made via:
PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=A2Y79V3X46Z6U
GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-riverview-rescues-with-their-vet-bills?

Please share far & wide so we can get these cats the help they need.

Max Bunny is available for adoption!

Age: 2-3

Weight: 70 lb

Breed: mixed breed

Is your foster dog sterilized: Will soon be

Is your foster dog vaccinated: DHPP. Will receive rabies during neuter appointment

Is your dog good with other dogs: Yes, he likes most other dogs and is quite respectful.

Is your dog good with cats: Yes

Foster Location: Saint-Andre-Avellin, Quebec

Is your dog good with kids: Yes

Current size: large

Is your dog house trained: Yes

Is your dog crate trained: Bunny is ok alone in his crate for up to about an hour. He will currently get highly agitated with longer time frames but is working on adjusting to longer stays. Continued guidance needed.

Does your dog have any special needs or medical conditions? No

Does your dog have any or display any aggression (toys, food, people, leash reactivity): No

Is your dog playful: Bunny is just now getting comfortable and his playful side is really starting to shine. He definitely has a sense of humour and is learning how to play with toys. At first he was quite nervous of loud squeakers but is coming around.

Describe the dogs energy level: Medium

Does your dog like to snuggle: Yes, Bunny is very affectionate and likes to bury his face in your lap and loves scratches and being towel dried when he gets wet outside.

Does your dog know basic commands: Some. Bunny understands ‘sit’ and is learning ‘down’ and ‘stay’. He either understands ‘come’ or is just happy to come see you anytime you call out to him regardless of the word 😉

Does your dog know any special tricks: Not yet

Describe the dogs level of training: Medium-low

Does your dog like to go on walks: Yes! Bunny really enjoys walks. He can feel a little anxious in very busy places or if there are cars/trucks going fast close by but overall does great on a leash and especially loves more rural areas.

Does your dog have any fears: Bunny can feel nervous (and will try to hide and bark if pressed) if approached quickly, especially by large men he does not know. At first he was unsure of big staircases but he quickly overcame that with a little practice and now he does not mind at all. He still does not want to step over manhole covers in the road.

Does your dog have any unique traits you have noticed whether in personality or physically: Bunny has an extremely expressive face! He has the cutest wrinkles in his forehead and the looks he will give sometimes are just priceless… You can really tell what he is thinking 🙂

What are the 3 first words that come to mind when you think of your dog: Sweet, sensitive, smart

Provide a description of your foster dog and the ideal home for them: Bunny is a real sweetheart, and is very smart and communicative. Until recently Bunny has been living outdoors, so he still loves relaxing outside and is often very happy to lay on the porch or in the yard and watch the world go by. He quickly picks up on and thrives with a daily routine. Over all Bunny is a calm gentle dog and is happy to spend a good part of the day napping close by to his family as long as he also gets some fun adventures 🙂

If you believe you’re a good fit for this dog, please apply below.

Please note we are 100% volunteer run and we only contact those who are considered for adoption.
