Thank you Dr. Judy Morgan's Naturally Healthy Pets for getting the word out and keeping us updated on the list. We all must patiently await the lab results. We encourage our customers to feed a fresh food diet either raw or home cooked. Dogsage has some good human grade options. Smack Pet Food is dehydrated raw and YBF Pure Nutrition base mix allows dog parents to add fresh protein from the grocery store. We are all in this together to help share knowledge for the health of our family members.

The is a purebred dog from Japan 🇯🇵. Intelligent, alert, and devoted to their families, these pooches have qualities that make them excellent companions! The Hokkaido goes by several names, including Ainu-ken, Seta, and Ainu dog. In Japan specifically, their name is shortened to Do-ken.

The Hokkaido is said to have accompanied the Ainu people from Honshu, the main island of Japan, during the Kamakura era in the 1140s, when exchanges were developing between Hokkaido and the Tohoku District. Ainu people relied heavily on the Hokkaido for their devout loyalty, bravery, and large-game hunting ability!

The Hokkaido breed is not only a great hunter 🕵️‍♀️ but is a very devoted, affectionate breed especially to their owners and family. They have many great qualities about them like being alert of their surroundings, their playfulness, and intelligence 📚.

This beautiful breed can be great playmates with children, especially when raised with them or properly socialized at a young age. The Hokkaido dog is pack-oriented with a strong sense of hierarchy. They are excellent guard dogs and very protective of their families. 💛
