This definitely applies in the Peace Region! Let's expand the list of breeds this would apply to. Keep in mind that a mixed-breed dog containing one or more of these breeds may not have inherited the coat type necessary to be left outside, so don't take this as a blanket permission to leave your dog outside.
Spitz/northern breeds: Akita, Alaskan Malamute, American Eskimo Dog, Chow, Eurasier, Finnish Lapphund, Finnish Spitz, Großspitz, Icelandic Sheepdog, Karelian Bear Dog, Keeshond, Kleinspitz, Mittelspitz, Norwegian Buhund, Norwegian Elkhound, Norwegian Lundehund, Pomeranian, Samoyed, Shiba Inu, Siberian Husky, Swedish Lapphund, Swedish Vallhund
This also applies to many, but not all, Livestock Guardian Breeds: Great Pyrenees, Maremma, Kuvasz, Tornjak, Karakachan, Caucasian Ovcharka, Tibetan Mastiff, Pyrenean Mastiff, Sarplaninac, Anatolian Shepherd, and so on. Some of the breeds that are from warmer countries originally may not be as suited to staying out in the cold with your sheep.
There are also other breeds that this apply to that don't fall into one of these two categories: Newfoundland, St. Bernard, Leonberger, Tibetan Terrier... what other breeds have you found that can handle staying outside in the cold?
