The bestest girl🖤
when your horse has a tying problem so you start simple🤣
Somedays she’s a rocket donkey, others shes a ranch pony🙈
Letty and i have been working hard on new things lately! Working on giving her head at the jog in our hackamore👏🏻
✨For the past couple of weeks i’ve been doing lots of bit work with letty! For those who know she has always been scared of the bit to the point where she rears up, ever since then i decided to go bitless! Lately i had been wanting to have both options (bitless and bit) so i started working on it! (With the help of my coach of course)✨
✨I had been moving the bit up just so its touching her mouth a little and when she would drop her head i’d take it away and take her for a walk. In this video letty opened her mouth before i had even asked her to which shows how much more comfortable she is with it! It’s completely normal for her to back up or have her head super high but i never release the pressure until she drops her head. Usually i get her to drop her head 5-6 times before i try to put the bit in but before this i had done it 2 times and clearly she was ready to have it in! Which for letty, this is an amazing acomplishment. I love the soft approach of this method, this shows that the bit is nothing to be scared of✨
soft hands make soft horses👏🏻
lunging in the bit👏🏻
As most may know i ride letty in a hackamore which for those who don’t know is a bit-less bridle… after an incident with a bit when i first got her i decided i didn’t want to ride with a bit and instead wanted to ride bitless. I then started riding in halters then a sidepull then got my hackamore.. the longer i had letty and the more educated i became i decided i wanted to try her in a bit again just to be able to have both options of bitless and with a bit. So after months of putting it off i finally did it and we got it in. With help from my coach Danielle Smith we were able to softly reintroduce it to her and i was able to get it in on my own without her having her head way up in the air. For me this is a huge accomplishment considering a year ago she would be rearing when i would even get close to her mouth with it. Now we start the month of ground work with a bit in😉
post work pictures🥰
Went back to some of the basics today and it helped so much! it never hurts to work on things you thought you didn’t need to do anymore!🌵
working hard or hardly working this winter?😉
some people wonder why she’s so quiet and now i’m gonna show people this video… there may never be a yoga ball that comes and jumps at us in however rather be prepared then not🤣
i call it desensitization💪🏼
can always catch me at the fence😋

could not thank letty more, she does anything and everything for me and i don’t know how i’ll ever be able to repay her for everything.
She is absolutely the best i could probably ask for, love having kids work with her😍
Maia learning some of the basics of ground work this evening! 👏🏻
Fun fact that even i only learnt last winter, if you keep your horses mane in braids 24/7 for long periods of time it grows faster and stays healthier… also using electrical tape instead of elastics!👏🏻
Spurs are not meant for speed.
Spurs are not meant for speed.
Spurs are not meant for speed.
Spurs are not meant for speed.
If they were, jockeys would use them.
They are used for lateral control..
With that being said please stop starfishing and gouging your horses mouths with 3” shanks..thanks, carry on.
i PREACH this👏🏻👏🏻
22 second run… i’m at lost for words right now… i am SOOO proud of her!
i’m so proud, all of the hard work and patience of putting on a solid foundation paying off👏🏻
One of my favourite teams getting ready to kick some butt💪🏼
I find it funny when people wonder why their young/green horses act up when they get ran on the barrel/pole pattern… most of the situation’s i’ve seen is these horses just get thrown right in to run the pattern at show’s and don’t take the necessary time to introduce the patterns to them in a good and fun way, so they just get sour right off the bat.
Starting a young or new horse on the patterns takes time and patience… and i mean alot of patience but if you want your horse to be able to run the pattern’s properly and enjoy doing they’re job, make it something fun for them. Alot of horses will develop gate issues or issues in the ring because they just don’t like their job’s… it’s important as their owner, rider and partner to make sure your horse likes doing what they are doing! You will thank yourself and your horse later for teaching them a solid foundation on the patterns! It will help you in the long run✨
My cute little english pony🥰
soo did something very different today… letty LOVED it and i think it may grow on me🤷🏻♀️ honestly just wanted to open up my horisons and try new things and it’s good to experience new things as a rider and with your horse! my riding isnt great because i am not an english rider but letty did amazing! could not have asked for better🥰
Sitting with your horse and just talking to them, enjoying their company is just as important as brushing them, riding them and doing ground work… if anything it’s more important, love the horse before the sport everyday💖

Maia taking the angel baby for a spin the other night🥰 proud to say i have the quietest 6 year old red headed mare ever, maia did sooo good! super quiet hands! think letty listens better for her then she does for me🤪 Carrie Good
have worked so hard this summer to get here, stepped outside my comfort zone and pushed myself… could not be more proud. This is living proof that taking it slow and making sure a nice correct foundation before adding speed!! i’d rather be on the bottom of the placings with nice clean runs then have a horse who is out of control in the arena and goes off pattern! she has given me her all this season and even ever since i’ve gotten her she’s always given me her 100%… i could have never asked for a better mare and am so thankful to have her💖
so me and letty did a thing tonight! decided to step outside my comfort zone and lope her bareback! first time i’ve ever loped any horse bareback! she was so good and even slower bareback then with a saddle on🤣 so proud of how far i’ve been coming with her! Was so nice to just have a relaxing ride and enjoy time with her❤️
working on that walk to lope transition a bit more lately, also been working on slowing her lope down by sitting and humming to her and if she still doesn’t slow i pick up on my reins a little bit to help her realize she needs to slow down when i sit and hum to her which she’s starting to realize. We’re getting a lot better at the walk to lope transition, been working hard behind the scenes lately💪🏼👏🏻
sundays rocking 80’s rodeo race was a blast! we even won best dressed for youth🤪 However i would like to praise my horse for a minute, the past couple of rides at home before the show hadn’t gone to plan so i was preparing for an acting up horse during my runs this weekend but yet she gave me her all and didn’t have an issue this weekend! she is such a saint of a 6 year old! i’m the type of rider that doesnt care about my times, however i do notice my times not that they affect the way i feel about the way i run my horse wether i get a slower time the second day then the day before i dont care, but i love noticing the little steps of progress because this was our fastest pole run in the plp arena so far with a 45 second run! so happy with her, i also love hearing from the announcers “damn that horse sure can weave” makes me feel good and that all my hard work is paying off and everything is falling into place❤️
So proud of my girl, she always acts like shes been showing for her whole life but this is her first year. i cannot believe how far she’s come since i got her almost 2 years ago🫶🏻 i’d rather do the pattern properly and make sure she knows it before adding speed, slow and steady wins the race at the end of the day, practice makes perfect🌺 (day two poles, one of our best pole runs yet)
