The OAEP is now accepting applications for the Annual Student Travel Scholarship for attending the AAEP Conference or to be used for travel needed for externships.

Through the Annual Student Travel Scholarship, the OAEP offers Canadian students the opportunity to receive $500 (Canadian) towards their travel required for continuing education. To qualify, students must be enrolled in an accredited veterinary college. Students must submit a copy of their CV/resume along with an essay no more than 1,000 words describing how the scholarship will be used to advance their equine veterinary career goals.

3 scholarships are given out each year at the OAEP’s AGM. Preference is given to current 3rd year veterinary students, however, students from all years are welcome to apply.

Applications are reviewed and the winner is selected by the OAEP Executive Board. The scholarship will be presented at the OAEP AGM on February 26, 2025. Interested applicants can forward their CV/resume and essay to [email protected] by February 12, 2025.

The OAEP AGM and Spring CE is being held at the OVC on March 13th. Registration begins at 5:00pm and the meeting begins at 5:30pm. Participation in this is event is free to all OAEP members.

Hello OAEP members!

We wanted to take a minute to share the success of OAEP's Foundational Skills in Equine Practice lab on Nov 17, 2023! We were thrilled to provide an opportunity for members to gain some new skills and get hands-on practices. Stations included stifle ultrasound, radiology positioning, abdominal ultrasound, and radiograph interpretation. The OAEP executive's aim was to host an event that would provide members with hands-on CE as well as an opportunity to get to know colleagues so we can better support each other as a team of equine veterinarians!

A huge thank you to our wonderful speakers - Drs. Amanda Avison, Orlaith Cleary, Nathalie Cote, Jackie Kaufman, Sarah Shaw, and Meghan Waller. Thank you as well to King Animal Hospital for hosting the event at their beautiful facility, Boehringer Ingelheim and Universal Imaging for sponsoring the day.
