Tip: Watch for subtle signs of pain.

Pets often hide discomfort well. Look for changes in movement, reluctance to jump or climb, or unusual grooming habits. These small cues can signal that your cat or dog might need rehab support or pain management. Early detection leads to faster healing.

Today holds deep meaning for me.
My grandfathers and my father are veterans, and their stories have shaped the way I understand sacrifice, courage, and service. Remembrance Day is not just a moment of silence, it is a commitment to remember the lives, families, and futures that were forever changed.

Animals have also stood beside soldiers with loyalty and quiet bravery, offering support, grounding, and connection. Their presence has been part of the healing journey long after the battlefield is gone.

We pause today to honour, reflect, and remember.
Lest we forget.

We’ve seen it time and again — when pets feel safe and loved, their recovery accelerates. Healing isn’t just physical; it’s emotional too. That’s why every session at Healing Hearts is filled with encouragement, calm, and care.

Help us welcome… Our newest adoptable Buddy 🐾

Gentle, friendly & quiet as can be! Buddy is a shy sweetheart that has recently settled into his new foster home after long travels and is still learning that the world can be kind. (& not so scary).

Jindo Mix | 5YRS | M | 37LBS

📍 Stoney Creek, ON

✨ About Buddy:
• Crate & house trained
• Would do best with another confident, submissive, well rounded dog to help lead the way!
• Best in a quiet home (no young kids)
• Enjoys peaceful company and steady routines
• Needs a patient owner, one who understands Buddy’s hesitations and need for exposure. One who would be willing to give Buddy the time to open up on his own terms.

🏡 Ideal home:
Buddy would thrive in a patient, understanding, and calm environment with a friendly dog to help guide him.
Buddy has so much potential, he just needs time & reassurance to show it. 💛

GREYBEARD - ADOPTED

Hi, I’m Greybeard. I am another one of the Jane Goodall tribute puppies. I’m an 8-week-old male Husky mix, and my mom is Mya, a 40 lb Husky blend. We all look just like her, so I’m likely to land in that medium size range too when I’m grown. My name is special… I’m named after David Greybeard, the wild chimpanzee who was the first to trust Jane Goodall. He helped change the way the world understood animals.

I’m super social and well-rounded for a young pup. I’m great with other dogs and would be happy joining a home that already has one, especially a dog who likes to play. I’d also do well as an only dog and would be a good first-time dog for someone ready for normal puppy training. I’m good with cats and think they make interesting buddies, and I’m good with kids too… I love playing with them in the yard and being included. I am still teething, so I may try to gently mouth fingers, toes, or try to sneak a snack if someone leaves it right at nose level. Typical baby stuff.

I’m already working on crate training and house training and doing well for my age. I’m also doing great on leash for such a little guy and I actually enjoy car rides… most of mine so far have been to the vet, where I get treats and attention, so I’m a fan. I’m smart, people-focused, and eager to learn, which makes obedience work go quickly. I’m also pretty fearless when it comes to new situations, so I’m the type of puppy who will follow you into whatever you’re doing and try my best to keep up. I’m ready to be someone’s best friend.

If you think that you would be the perfect home for me please fill out the application on the website!

Please be sure to read all the details before applying.

An adoption fee applies for me - $500 dollars, I have been vaccinated with my age appropriate vaccinations, been dewormed, been given flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and will come with 30 days of free pet insurance as well as my health certificate.

Happy Halloween from the team at Healing Hearts! 🎃
While you enjoy all the sweet treats tonight, remember that many Halloween goodies, especially chocolate, xylitol, and raisins, can be harmful to your pets. Keep candy and wrappers out of reach, and make sure your furry friends have their own safe snacks to celebrate!

Our four-legged friends deserve a spook-free and safe Halloween.
