MISBEHAVING OR MISUNDERSTOOD?
What we often think of as a dog misbehaving is actually just a dog behaving like a dog naturally does.
We expect so much of our dogs when we bring them into our lives, forgetting that they are a different species that don’t see the world the same way that we do. We hold them captive in a confined, unnatural space and become frustrated when they don’t understand how we expect them to behave.
We become frustrated when our dogs don’t walk nicely on a lead, don’t get on with every other person or dog they meet, steal food from counter tops, don’t give things back, guard resources, dig, chew or destroy what they shouldn’t, bark, howl or whine too much – I could continue with a very long list.
We need to replace our frustration and our need to train away or stop the unwanted behaviour with understanding and compassion. Understanding that dogs naturally behave in a certain way and compassion in guiding them to learn a different behaviour using force free, positive reinforcement methods or by better managing their environment.
Providing outlets to engage in natural behaviour, providing mental, social and physical stimulation and understanding why they behave the way they do will make a huge difference to both our dogs wellbeing and ours.

✨ BENEFITS OF RAW PUMPKIN SEEDS FOR DOGS✨

We all know how pumpkin is a great addition to a raw dog food diet (I'll share an older post in our stories if any one needs a refresher), but what about pumpkin seeds?

The seeds provide an array of nutrients such as: folic acid, niacin, calcium, magnesium, zinc, potassium, phosphorus, iron, copper, amino acids, protein and fiber. Pumpkin seeds are safe for all dogs, including pregnant dogs.

Pumpkin seeds can also be used as a tool to eliminate worms. The seeds contain an amino acid called cucurbitacin which helps rid the body of worms.

You can serve as a regular part of your feeding routine or as needed should worms pop up for your pup.

HOW TO SERVE: Crush raw, unsalted pumpkin seeds over food. If using to remove worms, feed until you no longer see the worms (typically white specks, think rice) in their stool. Feed 1/4 tsp per 10 lbs of weight per day once or twice a day.

Skye is looking a little shocked because we are halfway through our summer 50/50 raffle…and we have only sold 7% of the tickets 😭😭

Times are tough now and surrenders are at an all time high, and we simply can’t help seniors if we don’t have the funds to do so.

Looking for a dog? Consider a rescue. They rescue societies are full with surrendered and rescued dogs. All breeds, ages, sizes and all In need of a permanent home. Ask me if you want something specific. I am volunteering as much as I can and am seeing so many nice dogs.
