❤Long overdue update❤

Hello everyone! As some of you know, we will be moving at the end of June. Our family will be transitioning from military to civilian life, and we bought our first home in Gatineau. A new, exciting (and slightly nervewracking) journey awaits.

I'd like to start by saying THANK YOU to everyone who entrusted me with loving their furbabies since I started Dana's Dogs. Despite the pandemic hitting soon after I started, I got to care for so many beautiful pups... It truly was one of the brightest lights through the uncertain darkness of the past year or so. From my regulars to all the doggies in between... I will miss you and cherish the memories forever.

Our time here in Trenton was brief, less than 2 years. In that time we lost our beloved Titus, lived through a pandemic, I became a grade 5 teacher to Brooklyn, and I embarked on this journey. A lot of emotions will be tied to this place. 💗

Thank you so much once again for allowing me to care for your dogs and to have been such an amazing part of my life🤎🤎🤎 I plan to continue my work and passion for dogs in Gatineau... Let's see where this new beggining takes us!

An Update!

Hi everyone! The winds of change sure happened fast this year. Summer never even said goodbye, just packed up buggered off. The days are cooler, and kids are back to school. This year I have taken it upon myself to be the "teacher-mommy" of grade 5. Homeschooling will be a journey, albeit a somewhat nervewracking one... but also full of possibilities. We're determined and excited for our new adventure together. ❤

With that said, I am still offering my services, but just at my home, for now... until we get into that homeschooling 'groove'. This momma is still learning! I just wanted to let everyone know. So far we've had a few doggy class clowns participating in the morning lessons!🤪🐶🤡 ("BOL")

🐾🤎🐕Happy National Dog Day everypawdy!🐕🤎🐾

I count my lucky stars all the time that I get the privilege to care for dogs. 🤎🤍🖤 I also am so grateful for our beautiful old man, Rufio.

Here are some recent pictures showing how Rufio is truly everyone's best friend.

He is sweet and patient with the young ones, and his calm, balanced energy rubs off on every dog that we have the pleasure of looking after here. We are making every moment count... My handsome, wise one... who is loved beyond words, in these bittersweet golden years. 💛

They tell you not to cry.

They tell you that it's just a dog, not a human being.

They tell you that the pain will be over.

They tell you that the animals don't know that they have to die.

They tell you that it's important not to let him suffer.

They tell you that you can have another one.

They tell you it's going to happen to you.

They tell you that there is more pain.

But they don't know how many times you've looked into your dog’s eyes.

They don't know how many times you and your dog have looked into darkness alone.

They don't know how many times your dog was the only one who was by your side.

They don't know how much fear you have
at night when you wake up with your grief.

They don't know how many times your dog slept near you.

They don't know how much you've changed since the dog has become a part of your life.

They don't know how many times you hugged him when he was sick.

They don't know how many times you've acted like you didn't see his hair getting whiter.

They don't know how many times you've talked to your dog, the only one who really hears.

They don't know that it was just your dog who knew you were in pain.

They don't know what it feels like to see your old dog trying to get up to say hello.

They don't know that if things went wrong, the only one who didn't go is your dog.

They don't know that your dog trusts you every moment of his life, even in the last.

They don't know how much your dog loved you and how it is enough for him to be happy, because you loved him.

They don't know that crying for a dog is one of the most noble, significant, true, purest and warmest things you can do.

They don't know when the last time you moved him with trouble... making sure it didn’t hurt him.

They don't know what it felt like to pet their face in the last moments of their life....

Molson is a 5 year old Irish Water Spaniel, and he is sure keeping me on my toes! He was also a certified Search and Rescue dog, so he is super SMRT!
This gorgeous hypoallergenic pooch is our guest until Tuesday, and we are having such a blast with him already. ❤

Check out how tiny Doug was when we had him in March! He's such a big HANDSOME boy now! We are stoked to have these cuties with us for the weekend! Getting back in the saddle around here, and it feels good. It's a family affair. ❤🐾❤🐾❤🐾

Hi everyone, I feel like it's time for a little check-in.

I hope everyone is keeping well and safe out there. We have been quarantined since the second week of March (like all of you, I'm sure). I have been on hiatus since then, and let me tell you, I miss your dogs! I know all our beloved pooches are in heaven having us home all the time! I just love seeing all the families out for walks with their doggos. Please know I will be here for you when things get better, when people are safe to go places again, and need care. Until then, keeping snuggling your babies, and hang tight, we truly are all in this together.

Feel free to still message if you ever have any questions for me, I'm still here and I'd love to hear from you. I miss you all!

P.S. Here is one of my all time favourite pics, in Kananaskis, Alberta. It was from our cross-country roadtrip when we moved from Comox BC last summer. It was breathtaking. It reminds me of the world we all seemed to take for granted. It was also our last big adventure with Titus... We miss him so much.
