My boy Zunga won Best of Breed at the AVKC club show a couple weeks ago and Bill Rounis took these lovely photos as a keepsake for us. I love the two shows they hold at the Comox grounds and of course the people who make it extra special. The dogs and I had a lot of fun there. Thanks for the memories.

A few photos of Zunga and his best girl Hayden Miller. I’m so grateful that these two became such good friends and can’t thank Hayden enough for showing him so beautifully this year. They had many successes in the conformation and junior ring and it was so rewarding to watch this 11 year olds confidence grow. All three of my dogs have been handled mostly by juniors this year and they have all had an incredible season. Thank you Panagiota, Hayden and Anastacia. You and all the other juniors are the future of dog shows. And thank you Jacqueline Spray and Shari Lynne Millar for taking these photos.
Our last BC show for a while was epic. All three of my dogs, Jigs, Zunga and Decoy were in the show ring together today with the ladies from my very special dog show family - the Rounis family - showing them. Anastacia had Jigs and they went Best of Opposite; Siona had Zunga and Panagiota had Decoy and they got Select and puppy breed. Meanwhile Bill Rounis cooked and took care of everything else so we could concentrate on the dogs. Thank you so much Rounis family for introducing me to the world of dog shows and mentoring me and my Tollers! Jigs, Zunga, Decoy and I will miss you! 😘
It was a double hitter today for Auntie Jigs and 12-year -old Anastacia Rounis who won Best of Opposite in a lineup of 16 lovely Tollers at the GVKC show. Hot on her heels was her nephew Decoy who went Select Dog and Best Puppy in Breed with his bestie Panagiota Rounis. Both these dogs are Scotiapride bred by Barbara Blauvelt. I had tears in my eyes watching Jigs prance proudly around the ring with Anastacia. First show in a year for her and she’s had two litters! Anastacia carried on to win her juniors class with Jigs! Zunga and Hayden Miller looked fabulous in the ring today but no love from the judge for them. So proud of all my dogs and the amazing juniors who handle them❤️
Yesterday was extra special for us as my brother Russell brought our 94 year old mum over to the AVKC dog show and she watched Zunga and I and Decoy and Siona Rounis compete. Decoy won breed and puppy sporting group and then showed Mum his pretty ribbon! Princess Jigs found a lucky duck at the bathing station this morning. She’s coming out of retirement and looking forward to strutting her stuff in the ring this afternoon with Anastacia Rounis😀
On our way to the dog show in Comox today we stopped in Cumberland to visit mum. She loved being outside with Jigs, Zunga and Decoy. Then we set up at the exhibition grounds and as you can see everyone is quite happy. My brother will bring mum over to the dog show later this week to watch and hang out for a bit. She said she’s looking forward to it!

Decoy and Miss P finished off the Vernon Show on Sunday with their second Best of Breed at that show! Congrats. I'm sure they are looking forward to getting back to the coast and feeling the cooler ocean breezes. Congrats on an excellent show you two. It is such a pleasure to watch this team develop as Decoy matures and they get to know each other better. (Pic is from Thurs when Decoy won puppy group).
To say that Decoy and Miss P are hot is an understatement😂The pair have been at the Vernon Dog Show where it’s in the mid 30s. Yesterday they won BOS and Puppy Group, and Select Dog; today they won Breed and Puppy Breed. Congratulations to all the other hot competitors and your beautiful dogs😊
Jigs and Zunga are looking after things at home while Miss P and Decoy kick off their summer with the dog show in Vernon tomorrow. We have a new grand champion! Watermark's Westcoast Zunga bred by Jane Wright and co owned by Isabelle Southcott and Jane Wright achieved his grand championship (pending CKC approval) in fine style at the Nanaimo Kennel Club Dog Show last week when Jane showed him to a Best of Breed and a Group 3 under Judge Torbjorn Skaar. Zunga also got Select Dog with his favourite junior Hayden Miller at the same show. Way to go Zunga Bean!!
Day 3 Nanaimo Kennel Club Dog Show was a cold wet one but our retrievers didn’t care. Decoy went Best of Breed and Puppy breed with me on the other end of the leash. Zunga got Select dog with his favourite girl 11-year old Hayden Miller doing an amazing job. Thank you Judge Yvonne Savard!
Day 2 Nanaimo Kennel Club Dog Show saw Decoy win Best of Opposite and Puppy breed under Judge Honey Glendinning. No love for Zunga today but he showed beautifully for his favourite girl Hayden Miller❤️🐾Good entry of 16 Tollers today!
The EastWest boys had a great Day 1 at the Nanaimo Dog Show yesterday with Zunga winning Best of Breed and a Group three with his breeder and co owner Jane Wright handling him. Decoy won Select Male with me at the other end of the leash. Thank you Judge Torbjorn Skaar. Now fingers crossed it doesn’t rain today!
Decoy and Miss P got another Best Puppy in Group and a Best of Opposite today. So proud of this team! I’m equally proud of Zunga and Hayden Miller who showed beautifully but no love from the judge. Now to go home and let the dogs be dogs and go for a swim! Thank you ladies for presenting the EastWest boys so well🙏🐾
A fantastic day for little Decoy at the Comox Valley Dog Show today. He went Best of Breed then won a Group 4 and Best Puppy in Group in a strong entry of 20 Tollers. Thank to Judge Douglas Gaudin for awarding this boy so highly. Thank you to Siona Rounis for skillfully showing our special boy while her daughter was busy helping at grad. Miss P is back tomorrow😃!

So glad my dogs know that when I say leave it, I mean it. At 7:30 this morning all three dogs and I were walking the trails at the foot of Valentine Mountain and as we turned a corner, not 25 feet in front of us I saw a big bear. Jigs and Zunga rushed toward it barking madly, Decoy hung back with me. I yelled "Leave It" in a big voice and all three dogs came to me immediately. We turned around and went back the way we came with no further encounters. Great way to get your adrenalin pumping in the morning....
What an epic weekend! While Decoy and Miss P showed at Auld Lang Syne in Chilliwack and picked up two Best of Breeds, a Best of Opposite and Best Puppy in Breed at 9 months of age, Jigs and Zunga had fun camping and dock diving in Nanaimo. Jigs earned her dock seniors excellent and Zunga had some pretty fantastic jumps too. Thank you to Decoy and Jigs’ breeder Barbara Blauvelt of Scotiapride Tollers for both these dogs; to Panagiota and Siona Rounis for introducing me to dog shows and mentoring me; to Dwain Davis for all you do with the Tollers; to Jane Wright for Zunga and all your help; to Cindy Savory and the Pooch Pool School crew for another fantastic event and to the judges who awarded Decoy so highly.

Taken at the April 20 Sprinter Trials of Jigs, who'd had puppies two and a half months earlier, this series shows a dog with a razor sharp focus and a super strong prey drive. There was no way that "bunny" was going to get away from her. This girl sure loves life. Happy May long weekend everyone! May you have lots of long walks in the woods with your dogs, swims and plenty of games of fetch.🤣Today's Toller pup is Eastwest's Because of Schubendorf "Maggie" my co own with Marion Bowers who lives in Hantsport, Nova Scotia. The reason for the name is because my dad got me my very first Toller from Eldon Pace's Schubendorf kennel when I was seven and he was called Alexander Rufus of Schubendorf. So it is a full circle for me because Schubendorf is where the magic of Tollers began in my life.
I just had to share this photo from the show of Zunga and his girl Hayden. What an incredible team! They sure love each other. This brings me so much joy, watching the two of them in the ring and how well they work together and how Hayden's handling skills have improved. The kids are the future - I love being part of their lives.

Decoy did it! He got his CKC championship today at Tyee Kennel Club show at 8 months of age with another BOW. Thank you to Dr. Fernando Navia for recognizing this special pup from the historic breeding lines of Eddie Babine and to Barbara Blauvelt of Scotiapride Tollers for trusting me to be his other mother. Our boy finished part way through his second show. Moving up tomorrow to play in the Specials ring. Zunga and Haedyn Miller also had a great day and picked up another Select Male and more points towards Zunga’s Grand. Well done you two. Congratulations to all the competitors!

The babies were happy it was sunny and warm this weekend cause they got lots of outdoor play time in the big yard with Uncle Decoy! It’s so interesting to watch the dynamics of the pack. Decoy is 7 months and he loves his role of babysitter while Momma Jigs and her partner in crime run around the property and play. Kind of reminds me of leaving the biggest kid at home to babysit the little ones while mom and dad paint the town!
These puppies have sooo much energy now! They have an indoor play area and a small outside area with fake grass on the other side of the sliding door as well as their sleeping area. As soon as it is nice out they can go outside in their covered run but it has been wet and chilly out recently. Bring on the sunshine so the babies can play outside!
Congratulations to Scotiapride’s Eastwest Decoy bred by Barbara Blauvelt of Yarmouth, NS and co owned by Barbara and me. Today little Decoy walked into the show ring for the first time with Panagiota Rounis at the Victoria Kennel Club show in Duncan and he won Best of Winners. Since it was retriever day today they got to show again this afternoon and this amazing team won Winners Male. My heart is bursting with joy for this little guy and Miss P. So proud of you two and I know Decoy’s other mother Barbara Blauvelt is too! Thank you Miss P for everything!! Thank you Barbara for sending Decoy to the other side of Canada to grow up and for trusting me with him. Just sad I couldn’t be there to watch but I am home with the most adorable Toller puppies right now and you can’t do everything ❤️❤️🐾
Good morning friends and Happy Monday from the Literary litter. We are three weeks old and having fun exploring our world. We have little teeth and like to roughhouse with each other. We are finding our voice and can bark, growl and squeak!
These babies have good appetites! I love the contented sound they make when they are nursing🐾❤️
Zunga loves teasing Jigs by keeping the ball away from her. But he’s incredibly good natured - even when she takes it right out of his mouth!
The big dogs are teaching the little guy how to play with them🥰
There’s no better teacher than an older dog. Although Zunga isn’t quite two yet he is happy to introduce the puppy to new experiences!
A video of Princess Jigs from Sunday's sprinter trials. So much fun for people and dogs alike! Instinct based sports such as dock diving and sprinter trials are an enjoyable way to mix up a Tollers activities during the summer. While conformation is very important, it does my heart good to see how much my dogs truly enjoy dock diving and sprinter trials!
And Momma Jigs won yet again! Her puppies will have to get out of bed earlier if they want to beat their mom at her favourite game🐾
A little brag about Eastwest’s Island Girl “Lucy”. Her owners bought a home agility kit and here she is after her first lesson! What a smartie pants🤪Good job Sam and Laurie Stoddart!

Princess Jigs’ first litter turned one week old today! She’s a great momma and her pups are growing in leaps and bounds. Love all these little sausages and I’m having so much fun getting to know them.
